Some hair-raising flying going on here - it almost makes you scared to fly.

The Windiest Airport in theWorld---Watch the wings flex and rudder deflection. The video was shot at Wellington International Airport in New Zealand. Cross-winds are obviously terrible, looks like they crab maybe as much as 60 to 70 degrees and often abort when the winds are even worse. Toward the end, the video taken from the cockpit and the copilot yelling "wave off - wave off" and sure enough they did:

You look over at the Tech area. Coaster and myself went back and forth about Water and purity....but none of it mattered as we are friends that support each other.

All was good and ideas and knowledge were exchanged.

I may be talking way out of line here and if I get flamed so be it.
With allot of dismay with one of the other Corvette sites could this place become another all gen full fledged Corvette venue. If so tweaking the name to something less gen specific could make this place a little more inviting to all. I am by no means trying to stir the pot or cause any trouble
I just think there could be a opportunity its looking to me like the door may be kicked open. Again this is just my observation and a gut feeling. I'm ready to be shredded. :shaking:

I will say that I experienced similiar results but mine would climb during shifts similiar to a neutral state. i.e. 5800, 5900, 6000, 6200,6100, 6150, 6100,6200, 5900,5000, 4800. Kinda weird.
I know for a fact that my car is quicker if it shifts itself. Like .2-.3 seconds faster in the 1/4! Once I modified my car without modifying the governor I had to manually shift to get the RPM that high. I am looking forward to modifying the weights!!!

Cheers!
John

:me2:

Thats the way I was taught to do it in school. On my 85 monte i did it without the car running and i guess it came out alright. Next time i do this i am going to get a set of valve covers and cut holes in it in accordance to the locks. Then i am going to tighten it down that way. Whats nice about doing it with the car running is you can actually hear when it is correct.

Mine is an '84 and no, I haven't had to mess with the Windows at all yet. They are kinda slow...but nothing to worry about just yet.

Three bolts through the glass??? that would mean the track is loose?? there is no way all three came loose.

And for some reason, while getting a Chic Fil A, I felt it best not to let the window go all the way to the bottom.

On the C3, they have a trailing arm with bearing. The offset allows for wider tires, among other benefits.

If it's not dropping, then the ribbon must've broke above the motor. If you put it all the way down it might not go back up all the way again. No rain in the forecast though.

The window is attached to the regulator with three bolts that I think go through the glass, I don't see it coming loose unless you're talking about something else. There is no guide/channel like older cars you might be used to.

It doesn't matter anyways, the old white man is going to beat either of them.

Which doesn't seem to bode well for anyone hoping to spend less tax dollars in Iraq. Oh well, better than paying for national healthcare I guess.

Even though I have put off doing the exhaust this past weekend,
I did manage to get the water pump, accessory bracket, rocker arms, initial valve adjustment done, and intake installed.

[web]http://www.biggrizzly.com/corvette_stuff/engine02.jpg[/web]

[web]http://www.biggrizzly.com/corvette_stuff/engine01.jpg[/web]

Although I did smoke an old 3/8" electric drill while running oil through my pushrods and rockers.
Hard to believe how much resistance that oil gives after the system is pumped up.

I honestly don't know... IIRC the basic concept was pioneered by Greenwood with the racing Vettes of the early 70s.

If it was my $$$, I would go with VBP...

Dammit! everything was working just fine.

Today is the first "hot" day in weeks around here.

go to roll down the Driver side window and.....nothing....

It sticks. I put my hand on it and pull down gently and it drops the 2" to the.

So tell me guys, it's been decades since I bothered with one. refresh me on how they stay on the bottom guide. I recall a channel and a Rubber thing and maybe glue.

At least a sheet of things to look for. C3's have a unique set of problems to watch for- I'm sure other generations do to. Maybe help keep someone from making a $10,000 mistake.

I've always used 1/4 turn. I set them running too. Back off until they rattle, tighten until they just quit making noise, then 1/4 turn. I've turned hydraulic lifter engines to 7k setting them this way with no problems.

The idea is to get the pluner inside the lifter just barely above centered. Too low and they will "pump-up" they can't bleed down fast enough. too high and they bleed too fast and collapse.

Setting them running is a bit messy, but the guesswork goes right in the drain too.

Anyone here bought the heavy duty or offset arms from Ecklers ? Same price as VBP or VanSteel but they look different on their website, is it just a bad/old photo or do they sell their own design ?

Just a quick update on this issue. I purchased a newer scanner for OBDII several weeks ago, along with a OBDI adaptor cable. Well, I hooked this one up today and guess what I saw! MAT sensor reading 54*. I ran the engine a few minutes and the reading did start to climb just as it should. No morale to this story, just wanted to close this problem. Seems like nothing can be trusted 100% when dealing with electrical. That's what I get for bragging about my "old" scanner!

I've heard they suggest 2 full turns. I think that is too much. Too close to the bottom of the lifter in my opinion, then if you do have a lifter pump up at high rpm's you are risking piston to vavle clearance. I was going to go with 1/2 turn but decided to do 1 full turn. Next time the rockers are off I want to try 1/2 turn but I had so many variables this time with swapping everything above the block including the full ignition system I really wanted to go with a preload I had ran previously with the same lifters. So far so good.
