i really don't think they are hitting but after switching the passenger side valve covers with taller valve covers the car feels like it breathes better especially at higher RPMs but well see. Thanks for the Reply.

I have a single floor jack and want to lift the rear. Where to place the jack without damaging anything.

well, i can't compete with that, but i do remember when premium was $.89 a gallon and smokes were $1.69!

so far, i spend less than $90 per month in gas..... my latest onstar statement said that i averaged 13 miles per day in a 1 month period. my wife is a stay at home mom and only uses $20-30 per month in gas....

now my vette expenses this past month have been almost $7000 :shaking:

Bitching about gas prices is like bitching about CF, bitching won't change a thing

SHADOW, $70? My work truck cost me $94.36 yesterday and I pay for that as I am the company

Well I took the slave apart, got some info from Bill at ZFDoc about the tear down. The piston was stuck and took a soaking of brake fluid and air pressure to get it out. The seal was on backwards, turned it around, and cleaned the interior light surface rust with 1000 grit sand paper. Reassembled and planning on putting the old retaining clip on top of the new clip for added strength. It should be good to go.

Jeff - Understand why you'd be pissed and sure hope you stick around here

MAYBE we should have an "Other Forums Suck" section?

WE all know the state CF has morphed into. Seems like I've been introduced to more "dickheads" over there in the past year than the previous 7 years on there. Maybe it's a result of more than their recent sellout, there maybe too many members there, too many personalities clashing. I've wanted to post up some of the things I could bitch about regarding CF but I feel it serves only to make me feel better. Bitching about them and other sites only brings us down to that level.

As MOM used to say "if you don't have anyting nice to say don't say anything at all"

I fill up my work truck almost daily. Approx. $70.00 each time!

If it were not for the places I sometimes end up, I'd pick up one of those ugly assed econo boxes that get a gazillion MPG!

I don't care what it looks like or how slow it is or that I couldn't give it away in 15000 miles....just that I can drive all week ona tank!

I take the vette if I'm going long distance and pretty much know that I'll be on solid ground. Gets 27+ on the highway

I have to ask.

Why would you buy used struts?
You can get new ones from any parts store, Autozone and Advance carry them, about $60.00 for a set (would have to order and wait about 3 days to get them), but at least you wouldn't have to worry about the old used units not having enough support.

There are wide metal retaining tabs holding the ball, just pry a small screwdriver under and slightly twist, pulling the strut at that point and it will come free. Either prop the hatch with a board our have a fried hold it up or will you'll be taking an aspirin afterwards.

Anyone with a bit of automotive experience can tell you any project will end up nickle and diming itself to way more than what was planned. Once you add up all the extra gaskets and tools you need, the project ends up costing way more than just the parts planned.

I knew a ton of guys growing up with half done project cars because they didn't have the dough to finish them. I was just as broke as them but figured out early on you need to make a decent income to enjoy the automotive hobby (this motivated me through grad school). Cars cost money. Deal with it or pick a cheaper hobby. The kid with the $2k C4 probably has a C4 worth $2k. He will end up throwing time and money at it and finally realize it is a money pit. Sometimes it is cheaper to pay more for a better car.

I had always gotten the impression on the other forum some guys got an ego trip giving advice as if they were experts like Joe Sherman or David Vizard. You always read the same advice just recycled. Advice on the internet is sometimes worth what you pay for. What bugs me the most is the disinformation. Bad information is worse than no information.

Right. The problem is that when your experience conflicts with product marketing, some people take it personally.

I guess I'm out of that clique/forum.

Married for 36 years, wife can play soccer with her chest-and she don't need to bend over; got 2 Grand-kids, 1 kid in college, another still in High school. I take so many different drugs, Big Jim and the twins are a long lost memory. Equity loan on the house that runs for another 6 years, paying off the college kid's car at $45/week for the next year. Mid-life crisis passed me by 20 years ago, boy am I glad.

No Balla here.
Sorry.

Sell your Corvette and get a Prius then.

I saw one yesterday with vanity plates that said "51 mpg". I felt like pulling up next to him on my motorcycle that gets 60+ and telling him his car is an ugly, boring slab of steel with no payback that won't get 51 mpg outside of a EPA driving simulator.

But instead I just rode on. I tried bitching about gas prices before and it only made them more expensive. At the Shell stations here they installed TVs so you can watch the news about gas prices going up while you pump gas.

Diesel is what gets me! IT's supposed to be the cheapest of them all to refine and the prices here for diesel are .02 higer than supreme. I can't complain much as I drive a company vehicle and fill my vette and blazer like once a month. But it still fires me up - I'm sure the oil companys will all post higher profits this qtr. as well

I've been on the other site for the last 4.5 years and things are sure changing over there....Thought it was time to see how things are over here. Its good to see some of the old familiar names on here.

Its also good to see that you are adding the other Corvette generations to this place. I have recently added a 01 cp. to the stable, but don't worry I kept the 95.

I still plan on checking out CF, but I look forward spend time here...

OK, I love my two-tone. If I had to replace it I might even convert a one color vette to two-tone. I first saw a silver/black coupe long before I bought mine. It was raining out, and it looked bad-ass. A year later I bought mine.

You have to do what makes YOU most comfortable. I don't get anywhare near 50MPG on the bike, (I won't even talk about the MPG the Vette gets)but it's worth it to me. Then consider the weather.

I hate digging up old threads, but I wanted to chime in.

Mojo was the best mod over there period.

I remember when I PM'd you after pewter99 put me on moderation for posting a funny story in OT, and for those 15 days, only 2 of my posts were approved, and they took 9 hours each to get up there. All the posts I made during moderation were either A: helping people, or B: trying to buy something from a forum vendor.

There was nothing you could do, but you were respectful.

They definitely put a large nail in their coffin when they got rid of you.

I'm not banned from there (yet) but the only posts you will see from me is in C4 parts for sale.

Man this junk is getting expensive, and keeps going up, with no indication as of why.

I can't understand it, the economy is crap, there are no jobs to be had, the value of a dollar keeps slipping, but this stuff keeps going up and up and up.

I dun get it.

Let me explain, but first, a little bitching.

Went to the gas station today with my Blazer, entered from the opposite direction than what I normally do. Put the noozle in, start pumping, and notice that I'm only at 10 gallons, while the price is at $35.00. WTH?

Dumbie me put the Premium noozle in instead of regular.
Difference is $3.28 compared to $3.06. DOH! I'll never enter the station from that direction again.

Now, as for our economy being craptastic, that's why prices are so high.

Investors/feculators (mainly foriegn) are driving the prices up, because the American dollar (stock market/bonds/real estate, etc) is weak right now.

Third World becoming Second World. First World becoming Second world.
Looks like we're all going to meet in the middle.

The price of fuel was the straw that broke the camel back in my former job. 23 years invested, and I went belly up.
