I started wiring in a manual switch for my cooling fans today. I had no trouble finding and splicing into the relay ground wires that go to the ECM. There is a convenient hole right next to the upper door hinge for the wires to the switch. I have a couple questions I couldn't find answers for when using the search engine. I always like to install a red light with toggle switches. The voltage is 12+ on the small ground wire that I am grounding. The first question is: Will this wire carry the current for a small light? Question two: Do you bring on both fans or just the primary or secondary? Later! Frank

Had a good day today blue skies, and spent the taxpayers $$$ the way it was intended? It's a $itch to see how it's spent and wasted so when I spec a construction project it gets the govt what it needs (not wants) and keeps
people working, it's a good day at work. Sorry a little $itchy at govt waste.

On my previous C4 Corvette I did the same thing that Oaklands did, except I put 4X6 in the dash, 6.5" in the doors, and 6X9" in the rear hatch. I used all 2-way Infinity speakers and this amp, which fit perfectly in the rear storage compartment:

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produc ... p;i=500MRPF450&tp=115

Wow, was that ever a great-sounding stereo, it sounded ten times better than the Bose in my 2005 coupe.

The 4X6's in the dash were a really tight fit, I had to shave down the mounting brackets and I just zip-tied them to the speaker frame before re-installing in the dash pad. For the record, they never vibrated, the zip ties worked perfectly.

I also ran all new speaker wire, and while the interior was all apart anyway, I used B-Quiet ultimate on the floor, door panels, the console, and the rear hatch. It took me a couple of weeks to do all this, but wow it was like a totally different car, much quieter ride which of course improved the sound of the stereo.

Should have kept that car.

That is good news. My wife had back surgery last year, it's a slow process to recover from. Good luck and here's to a speedy recovery.

I am fairly certain that the bracket is aluminum...I don't have the tools to polish AL. Is that expensive?

My wife is giving me crap about the money at this point...and I still have to get the exhaust done. She doesn't get putting $5k into a perfectly good car. Then there's the boat, and the other boat, so price is the issue for now.

Isn't the A/C compressor bracket aluminum or pot metal? I have no clue as to what your smog pump eliminator bracket is made of. You can't chrome plate aluminum or pot metal. They can be anodized or painted/powder coated.

I can powder coat it. Maybe I'll get it done shiny black..It is aluminum.

PC is cheap too. I think chrome plating is expensive.

Here's the bracket I purchased. It's aluminum...

.Resized Image

Maybe PC is the ticket.

That sounds like the boots pushed themselves off, like I said silicone grease the insides of the boots and make sure they are purged of air or It'll happen again. If you haven't done the wires before pull the front wheels and fender wells. It'll make it easier to change them out. Not exactly "Swear-Free" but it cuts down the explectives! I had to Dremel the AC mount bracket to sneak the drivers side wires through. Have fun

Quote "cmashark". "i went to the exotic muscle website and noticed that they have the ceramic hooker long tubes with smog and the y pipe for a livable price. now the only mods i really planned on doing under the hood was a set of 1.6 roller rockers. do you think i will get any real benefit from these headers or should i just drill and replace my studs? does anybody have any experience with these headers?

ESPECIALLY with a near stock engine and for a driver, you will see a much greater performance increase with headers that have 1 5/8" primary tubes, over those 1 3/4" Hookers. There are several outfits that offer them. The most economical are Hedman Hedders. Unless you are rock bottom on funds, it would pay to spring for their Elite line of headers with the thicker flanges, tubing, and ceramic coating, rather than the bargain basement specials.

You know what really urkes me.... How much time is spent in this country trying to prevent prejudice and thinking how much ground we have covered since the sixties and yet we still have to deal with affirmative action and the news today saying things like Ohbamais picking up most of the black vote and Hillary is getting the white female vote. No shit. What is wrong with this picture?

..and to top it all off, the stock market tanked today with more rumours of a recession

.....don't mind me, I just need a beer.....

Yeah, join up then click on the "Vette top 100" every day and vote. By doing so, you are voting for Central Coaster to be president. I've voted every day for over a month and now he has more votes than Hillary Clinton.

Really foggy here today, and cooling off fast. But at lunch time it was still very warm. Was home for lunch, and you could here the frogs in the pond down the road. Never heard them this early before.

They better dig back into the mud tonight though.

Oh, and I stopped to vote on the way back to work.
If your state is having elections today, get out and vote. It does not matter to me who you vote for, it's up to you to voice your opinion at the polls.

I voted this evening. I actually did a defensive vote and voted in the democratic primary so I could vote against the person I can not stand. It was interesting as the guy beside me in line was doing the same thing. Neither of us had done this before. All in all, I talked to 5 people today who were doing the same thing. We weren't all voting for the same person but for the same reason.

Now I wonder how many people might be doing the same thing!

I just thought of something. Since the ECM also has control of the OD on my 4+3 would this maybe point even more to my ECM being bad? I notice that my OD will kick in after my first start of the day. The car is kept in the garage which is probably around 60 degrees. Most of the time the OD will go ahead and kick in before I reach 122 degrees. The temp gauge will still be saying LO when this happens. I'm just trying to throw out more things I have noticed that might point to the ECM.

Thanks for the replies.

My 84 rack and pinion has no markings. RockAuto sells AC Delco remanufactured for $170 each with a CA, YM, or WL marking. Does it make any difference which I purchase and why are they $50 cheaper than Corvette Central, Eckelers, Zips, Vette 2 Vetter etc? Any insight would be a great help!

Doing this build I went total utility. Tried to buy the best parts for the application. I put my money IN the motor, not on it.

Now, I'm thinking perhaps to get a couple pieces plated so I don't have to take it apart agian.

The AC compressor bracket, and the air pump eliminator bracket.

Does anyone know the price of doing this? Is plating expensive?

Thanks.

The tubing I got is expensive as hell. It was $120 for two pieces about
4.5 feet each. It's hydraulic line (which will tolerate gas) it has a teflon
core wrapped in rubber with braided stainless on the outside.
A manufacturer's name, series name and part number could be helpful to others in the future.

.

Cool, I'll call them tomorrow and get it.

The price included four fittings one on the end of two pieces, plus a couple compression fittings put on my stock tubing.

John, may need your supervision soon...want to replace the window regulators in both doors. Won't be around this weekend, but maybe next Saturday morning (Feb 16th), before the Challenge (if I get the left side that is on order).

The sound deadening I used was Raamaudio's. I just laid one layer of their mat. Didn't bother laying the closed foam over it. Since this car is 70% for racing and 30% for cruising, I didn't want to weigh it down too much.

It has nothing to do with his ability, it is his unability to give credit where credit is due (poor sportsmanship). He should have recognized the ability that the Giants defense delivered in that game, and that the pats as a team did not or could not rise to the challange (he came off like sour grapes).

I think any true professional in competitive events should possess an amount of humility and recognize that anything can happen and that anything is possible, regardless if it is due to injury or just lack of stellar performance.

The medias aggressiveness trying to make him the next QB w/4 bowls and his response in interviews prior to the game, he 'seemingly' acted as if it was a a given, this lack of humbleness to the unknown, the lack of hunger, and combine this with all the media regarding him as "the perfect this and perfect that" came back to haunt him......who knows maybe gesele was on his mind

Headers on an L98, along with other exhaust mods, are good for some pretty substantial power gains. Some people say 20-30 hp. I know my hookers and true dual exhaust made a noticeable power difference but I have no before and after dyno numbers to say how much.

Looks great! And it reminds me how lazy I am...lol. I have my new weatherstripping sitting in the box waiting for me to install it. I also have to paint my calipers for my c5 upgrade and some other little things. Carpet is on my list too, eventually. Let us know how the sound deadener is for you - I'd like some, too.

Good job again!

Pianoguy, I'll try that. THANKS.

Good luck! I used to panic if I didn't have Tums in my jacket pocket, or glove compartment, or desk drawer, etc. Every once in a while I still need to reach for one, but at least it isn't a multiple-times-daily event. I take these:

They're just bacteria - helps you digest your food better. From what I understand, if you ever have to take antibiotics, that can throw your system out of whack, since they kill the good bacteria, too.

I think the one stilt on the house is sinking or weak. So the work it needs is some leveling then since there is a crack all the way across the ceiling we have to replace the entire ceiling. I would try to fix it but its been patched way too many times. As far as just barely fixing it up thats a no go. If I am going to fix it it will be all the way. We called a agent to come look the place over and see what the real time value is and how much we could get for it if we fixed the kitchen up.
