Iran may never produce a nuclear bomb per se, however, they will have enough radioactive crap laying around to make a bazillion small "dirty bombs". That worries me more than a nuke. At least with a nuck, the target gets obliterated. with the dirty bomb, you get much more suffering. Of course thats what these bastards really want. They are way too cowardly to put a gun straight to someones head...click and its over.

Such thoughts on the Eve of Holy days for so many.

Ignore that garbage for a couple of days and Have a Happy Easter Or Passover Celebration....whichever may apply.

God Bless,
Alan

So as not to miss anyone, I'm sitting under one of those metal pyramid structures beaming good thoughts to all...
Krishna, Krishna, Krishna...I hope Rosie is Ok.

In all seriousness I am beaming a signal out. I'm a Ham. I actually got an operator in Brazil on a 10 meter frequency today... some 5000miles on nothing more than a 20 foot pieced of wire hanging between the basketball hoop an the side of the house. It amazes me sometimes.

Those stormes tossing trucks through the air yesterday were something else! I wonder how anyone survives those massive storms.

Glad the numbers are good. Are there any homeopathic/natural remedies that will help? Have you looked into that?

Matthew

Matthew,I am a chemist at heart. 20yrs as a pharmacist and a good chunk of that at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Most of the drugs I've taken were just number designations when I worked with them and there really haven't been any real big breakthroughs in all that time. But I hope somebody finds some combo of something that puts a dent in this next time I really need treatment. All that said, a goodly amount of the Twigs and seeds(Homeopathics) that I've sold over the years really boil down to tiny tiny tiny amounts of the stuff that they use that they know is active in large(r) amounts., so its really not worth it.(According to many in Andy's State though a certain weed like substance can cure lots of ilks...maybe I should try that.) A lot of what seems to work for some people using homeopathics is just the power of positive thinking, eating well, and just plain luck. I do believe in the positive thinking thing though. Its a scientific fact that worry and ill thoughts generate damaging chemicals in the body. So I TRY to be positive. I fall off that truck often, but I do try. Myeloma is a cyclical thing, so, I know it will return again and I will need to go through the chemo again. This most recent battle wasn't about the cancer though, like I was saying, this one was about the Doctor. Its a Love Hate relationship, and we each set each other straight once and a while. This time, I won. So I'll put it out of my mind as much as possible and have some fun here with you folks, my family and Vette. I'll keep you posted. till then, bring on the wise cracks. Tommy....swing away!

I saw that truck disaster on the local news. Slow news day in Phila. Lots of Trayvonne stuff still.

I got what I wanted at the Docs yesterday. Numbers are stable, so he let me stop the Revlimid. But, not without trying to bargin..."want to try 10mgs every other day? NO.
want to go down to 5mgs daily? NO. every other day? NO."
He doesn't get it, huh? I don't want to take anything. Its a quality of life thing for me and its an improving his patient survival statistics thing for him. He's the best out there, but sometimes he can't differentiate between those two things, quality of life and stats.
Finally got him down to a 6 week trial without anything to give me a chance to recouperate again from this, what I see as useless, round of chemistry. I know I'll feel much better in a week or so as the revlimid exits my system. Then it will be time to enjoy that beautiful blue piece of electrical/ mechanical wonder of a C5 I have. The thought sounds good to me.

Thanks for the good thoughts yesterday and tolerating my bable on a daily basis. You folks make a great sounding board. Please pardon the drama.
Thank you, Alan

Let me ask you this...

Do you pay for your"cable" so you can watch your 460 thousand channels at any time of the day that you choose. Are some of those "News" channels?

Let me pull out 3 words from the above questions.

"Pay" "for" "News"........Thats Entertainment.

'nuff said.

Interesting back yard Tommy. My Buddies dad used to keep his 30ft Bristol on one of the intercoastals near Lauderdale. We drove there as Teenagers(every winter 18 through 22yo) to party and stay for nothing of course, and one of the highlights of the trip for me was hopping of the boat every morning and grabbing a fresh orange or grapefruit the owner had in his yard. Lemonade was a favorite too. Its amazing how much fruit a mature citrus tree puts out. Hans and Helga...what a beautiful property with all of those producing trees!
Well, off to see the Doc at Hosp. of the Univ. of pennsylvania today. We pushed my appointment up because I've had a few more side effects from the Revlimid than I care to bother you guys with. Needless to say, I've had enoungh! and I'm going to discuss not taking it anymore. I was recovering from the stemcell transplant pretty well and then they decided to give me this crap as a maintainance drug. Told me there is a 40% chance that it will lengthen my plateau(temporary remission in multiple myeloma). Gotta reweigh the odds and look into my wifes eyes for some help but I know where that will go. Throw me a positive thought once today if you can. Thanks. Alan

Hey Matthew. I think we are all destined to follow some sort of path in life. Chaos is something I thought would go away after the kids got a little older.....not. So Good luck guy. Just keep smiling and know you got it good. Your family is healthy. No matter what the BIL's truck throws your way.

Letty, Facebook is the root of all evil. People are pretty brave sitting in front of the keyboard. You're the better perrson for yanking the foul posts. Screw it, its your friend. You enjoy her companyright? who cares what someone else says.

Marcus. Nice find on the truck 90+ thousand miles and in that shape? looks good to me. Best of luck with it.

Tommy......retired? doesn't sound that way to me. My back gave that stuff up long ago.

Maan, some of this was almost philosophicle (sp.?) huh'....Shut up alan.

Happy Palm Sunday everyone.

We had Allstate bundled from the time we were married and for about 20 years. We moved out of Phila, to a semi congested suburb called Langhorne and the rates didn't change. I was well past the age at which I should have gotten that break... and no claims. We moved again further out from the city to a suburb called Churchville, where we are now and they jacked the rates up!. This was before my oldest hit 16 and got added to the policy. We went with Met Life because I worked for Kmart/sears and thats who they insured through and they saved us around 900. The boys are both on the policy now and the they are really jacking us.(Still no accidents) and the Vette is Geico. Maybe I'll shop State Farm....SOON!

Color is real nice. ..... with only 600 miles a year and is that exhaust stock? Did he drive a couple of hours to and from the track each summer to have his fun? I had a guy really try to sell me a track car with low miles (not that low!) It was spotless, even underneath....you could eat off the headers but he did disclose that it was a track car. So I passed. You don't have that luxury buying from a dealer. I guess you could say bad things about any used Vette. Sorry for my negativity. Low ball the guy....what can he say? No?
Good luck on the lottery. Seriously!
Take care,
Alan

Well, I didn't want to say anything the other day Tommy after your Miata comment, but,......My kid bought one so he could "Drift". Its his Daily Driver. The bone head "drifted" into a curb while chasing his buddies , popped and ruined an expensive wheel, bent the lower control arm to shit and of course jacked the alignment. He replaced the lower control arm and ordered a whole new set of expensive wheels and tires. I took him to get the tires mounted yesterday and a "performance" shop refused to mount them because they didn't have the correct machine to stretch the tires onto the rims. So off to another shop this morning that claims they can do it......another 45 minutes in a different direction. Hes a pain in the ass. Then its on him to bolt up the wheels and get the alighment! And I have to get the other sons Monte Carlo in for inspection. I think all that needs is a piece of exhaust tubing directly behind the Cat to the muffler....I can hear it. The car has 100k on it and its the first exhaust work being done. Hasn't been a bad a bad car and it only needs to make it to september when he's off to Penn State for his first year. They don't allow freshman to have cars on campus.....so theres my day. BTW, the rear sold yesterday without a hitch and the Cali guy let me off the hook. Whew.
Have a safe day Gurus

I have 3 words to say and you know they're coming...
FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS

...Not on school property? No right to dicipline. Sounds like there will be a Civil Rights case you wait and see. Not that I agree with everything those zealots do either, but this one just makes sense.

If there is slander involved, that is a personal law suit for the principal to file on his own behalf.

What a can of worms this could get to be.

Its an auto Andy. Got that so Patti can share it...She can handle it pretty well, just never learned manual.
I found it at a Mercedes dealer no less. It sure is my Mercedes! It has 32K on it and they gave me a Lifetime Warranty on the engine and drivetrain with a lousey $100 deductable.....On A VETTE?! Heck Yeah I'll take that! I love the Navy Blue Metallic and Black interior. Its like the Aqua, noone around here has one.
This one has so much more oomph than the 94. And its quiet power...that sorta sneak up on somone quiet, but it barks and jumps when you nail it. I'm real happy with it. I can definately say its my dream car. Hmmm, said that about the first one didn't I !?
Thanks for asking Andy...as you can see, I don't shut up.

As for my Avatar Name I guess you could change it to "Smooth".
That ought to invoke some harrassment! And Since you insist on being referred to as a God Like Deity, I will hence forth be known as God himself (What the hey, I'm going to burn in hell anyway...humor me)LOL!

Alan.....hello friend, long time no hear!

Sorry to hear about the cancer. I didn't remember that you were afflicted by that. Is there chemo or treatment available?

As far as the C5...congrats! That makes you a trader, not a traitor I would love a C6 but it's not in the cards for me.

And as far as the rear end...have you taken any payment from the guy in CA? If not tell him to pound sand. I always put in my for sale ads that local sale has priority. It's a PIA to ship big items. Plus, with your health condition, someone has to respect that. If not call them out in the for sale ad like the Dbag that they are. Sorry for saying it how I feel.

Aside from that good to see you are back around. Don't be a stranger.

Matthew

Hey Matthew! You know how reputations work over there, especially in the for sale section. Otherwise I don't give a sh##. As for your other question, no cure, but I've had 2 stemcell transplants since 2009 and they are good for about 18 months then more chemo and the next cycle. Sucks while you go through it, but I always make a come back. I make a point of it. Like I said boys...I'm Ok!

Marcus ! Brad! Tommy! How rude of me. Didn't mean to exclude you from the initial hello.

Yeah, you're right T, A time limit should have been set. I really didnt want to ship in the first place so I hadn't considered a shipping rate across Pa. much less all the way to California. Should have stuck to my guns though in the first place and said No shipping like I advertised. Its being married to a Catholic girl for 27 years though....the guilt thing rubs off haha. Oh well, lesson learned.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I needed a sounding board with some wisdom.

And thanks for the well wishes. When I wake up in the morning smile behind the bark of getting the kids out the door for school and have a good cup coffee while watching the deer by the lake, I know its a good day.....Then I break the soft gentle morning by the lake with a good burnout! Damn! sometimes its good to be me! I'm ok boys,I'm ok.

Hi Matt Andy Bill etc!
Its been a loooong time. I trust you guys are all doing well. Me, well...ok... dealing with the Damn Myeloma again. comes and goes but I won't complain...sorry

I dun a bad ting. I think I bought a 2.59 d36 pumpkin I think from BillH? years ago(sorry if it wasnt you Bill) and had it built into a 3.54 using Richmonds. It came out nice but it never made it to the car.....that was around early 2008. Well, I finally got an '01 (yes I'm a trader....hanging my head in shame) and the C4 stuff has to go. I posted over there I wasnt interested in shipping, mostly because I'd have to build a box and I just don't haave that kind of energy, so I put in the ad "no Shipping".
So a guy from Southern Calif. PMs me asking me to ship. I was very hesitant but went to the ups site and put in rough dimensions and 65lbs. it came back like $85 and That was a low estimate considering I'd have to crate it. SO he goes back and forth with me and says hes starting a new job, could I hold it, he'll pay me half one week and half the next, ship it to his girl friends house 'cause he has a third floor apt. and doesnt want to lug it up there nor does he want the UPS guy to have to. Meanwhile a guy about an hour from here touches base and says he has the cash, couple of phone calls later he'll be here in the AM, rear is sold. Right?! I go to the ad and someone posted that it cost him 75 to ship a rear cross country. Guy no.1 posts he's already cut a deal with me and that fact is good news.
1st of all where the heck did someone find shipping coast to coast for that cheap on an item that heavy, and second why do I feel like a dog. I PM'd him to explain I just need quick cash to pay bills with the cancer and all and no answer back yet. I do feel like a dog. should I?
Thanks for letting me rant. I've honestly been too sick to post. I was pretty regular for a while. Can I still drop in now and then even though I'm a deal breaking, C5 owning Dog?

Why don't we all quit our jobs (those of you who still work) and show up somewhere in S. Florida....We'll call it "The Guru Nationals" or something like that and take Guru car show pics under the Palm Trees. I'm this close to remortgaging the house for the fuel bill and 1 nice cold beer, just 1! 'cause I'm probably not allowed to have that either.......
Sound Good?...Hows the Fishin' Tommy?

Went to start mine yesterday and the damn thing needed a jump! Its been too long. Hopefully, We'll get out to Mother's day Breakfast in New Hope,Pa. At a resturant aptly named "Mother's" (a town Maybe Andy or Matt may know...)a quaint little town on the Delaware River. On a day like today, the Bikes may beat us to it, but theres always Lambertville Right across the river in Nj. The "Covered Bridge" tour may be in order.....nice Sunday drive with some twists and turns for me and she'll catch up on the last of the spring Trees Blossoming. Sounds good even as I type. Happy Mother's day or Mutha's Day to you and yours!

Imissed a page as usual Tommy...We just had an issue on that last trip down to Marco Island. The van we rented quit and we ended without wheels for 2days on a 3 day getaway. Enterprise...but since I did it through Orbits, they refused to do anything. Orbitz, Never Again!

Woke up to some actual sunshine here in the Philly area. Hurry up Father, Clear weather is burning off And I may need the Vette ride more than church today(with that statement, you'll note I believe in a very forgiving God!) He'll get me later I always say as I cross myself.

Traditional Polish Easter Brunch Matt? Man I hope you got Pierogies Good Friday. A yearly treat for me, but missed it this year. No appatite. We're having the traditional Ham, potatoes, green beans thing today though....Happy Easter!

TOO many options.

I don't think the supplier of the ones that I have will do much for me since I've had them 4 months. I haven't been able to get through to them yet.

I agree with you on your expectations from the mfg Jeff. Probably had'em too long.
If you thought it might be the springs, I'd saywhy not do the screwdriver in the spring test while its running, but ,I'm sure you thought of that.If all that movement is on the trunion, I'd trash them w/o driving another mile. If the bearing has lost a roller or two, it could be in your oil!!!! Change the oil and filter it to look for trash.....and pray. As for a new set, save up the extra $40 and get the Cranes...pretty much can't go wrong...But I know what its like on a tight budget! Good Luck Jeff!
