Just checked in to the CF after being gone about 9 months and noticed a lot of weirdness. Then the Kid invites me here where I find that all of the good ol boys and gals are now hanging out!
What's up?
Any new trends in C4 ownership? Looks like they can be had for great bargain prices now.
I just got the latest Corvette Fever mag and the "What's New" section says that Edelbrock has a new RPM Extreme head for the LT1-LT4 engine. Claims to add up to 76 HP and 50 lb-ft of torque. Anyone tried a set of these yet?
Unfortunately I am up in the air about my next Corvette purchase as I am waiting to see how my wife's career shakes out. If she retires we will be moving out of Michigan to Arizona/Nevada. If she stays then we will have to see how much of a pay cut she has to take to go from a year-round school principal to a school-year-only principal. Also in the unknown category is an inheritance from her parents. We are either going to be on rice and beans for a few years or quite comfortable here pretty soon depending on what happens.
I love change.
Anyhoo - looks like Andy is doing a great job here and looks to be an even better forum with the coming change.
How y'all doin?

So tell us what you are "dreaming of" in your next corvette purchase.

Short term goals need to be set. If your situation changes, then you can change your goals.

You got to have something in mind.........what is it?

Early C4 with a bunch of mods......Bone stock LT4.....GS....ZR1?

Damn good to hear from you! You were one of the classiest dudes on the CF, my good man.

I mentioned in passing in one of my pre-purchase threads that I was looking at an '84 Vette, and next thing I know, the whole damn chapter of Cor-Vette Specs on the '84 is delivered to my doorstep. You are a true asset to this community!

Please do stop in regularly, even if it is just to dream about the next purchase, or BS over in the Off Topic forum.

I am SO glad you found us!

Here's what I ended up with.. My apologies for the size. I need to make my images smaller. If someone can shrink these for me, I would appreciate it.

Peanut butter sandwiches are a nice change of pace. A bowl of ketchup soup is pretty good on occasion too ( and here's a trick: use a lot of saltine crackers to "bulk" it up). Nice to see you around again Ron...

Thanks for the kind words. Feels like home.
Right now I am drving a $2,500 Olds Ciera that is paid for and gets 30mpg. I bought it from a couple of guys who had to take the keys away from thier 84 y/o mom whose name was Mable and was getting dangerous on the roads. Quite a come down from my LT4 red vert.
But then my grand daughter made me smile. I took her to school one day and when she looked at the logo and name on the dashboard she said, "Oh, Olds Mable!" So here I am scooting around the highways with Old Mable's car. It did make it back and forth to both Corvettes at Carlisle and Mid America's Funfest last year though with no troubles and great gas mileage.
What am I thingking of for the next one? I really like some of the C3s as in the 80-82 sharks with a crate motor and 700R4 with steeroids. Some of them that I have seen for sale look quite nice with new paint, suspension and interiors too.
I like the ZR1s and the skunks too but then reality sinks in. I cannot afford them. I really like any of the 95 96s as they are the best engineered of the C4 gen.

Welcome back Ron. Where you been for 9 months?

Maybe you could auction off enough of those Viagra pens to get a nice C4.

I have a friend with a great 96 CE, LT4 that she needs to sell for $14K and it is here in HotAtlanta so you could come by and see your Waffle house friends again.

Ha ha! Great memories of the Waffle House! Just in case others have not heard it: I flew into Atlanta a couple of years ago and picked up a red LT4 vert from a former CF moderator. It was low miles and had been spoiled rotten by the previous owner.
I headed North and when I spotted a Waffle House sign I decided that it had been a very long time since my 3 AM snack so I pulled in for breakfast.
Well, evidently the state of Georgia was awarding a new red Corvette vert that month to several lucky state Lotto winners. When I pulled in I actually emptied the restaurant as they all came out to look at what they thought was a brand new "Lotto" Vette!
I felt like a superstar! When my waitress delivered my waffle she actually said, "I don't know where you are goin honey but I want to come with you". I was stunned as I am an old fart, balding, short troll kind of guy.
I told her I was married but thanked her for the offer.
I left her a $20 tip and headed out to the car. Once I got out on the street I decided to do a massive burn out. I had never had a car with traction control so naturally I didn't get any rubber at all as it automatically turns on each time you start the car. It did launch rather nicely though!
My heart was beating like a trip hammer! Now every time I pass a Waffle House I smile.
I sold my vert back to the original owner last year as he had bought it new at the tender age of 17. He had sold 3 Corvettes to start his own business and really missed it. My wife's great paying job was looking shaky and we wanted to clear the decks just in case she needed to retire. I sold the car back to Brandt and then decided to lay low for a while. I even went so far as to sell ALL my Corvette stuff on E-bay. I just couldn't bear to see it anymore. I sold pictures, tools, books, memorbillia, FSMs and piles of stuff for a nice pile of cash. Along the way I met and made friends with a bunch of Corvette nuts from all over the world. The internet is truly amazing.
I also felt that I had gone overboard with the Corvette hobby and had become addicted and obsessed. I needed to slow down, get back in the gym, cut expenses and set new priorities.
I'm doing much better now and want to get back in the game slowly this time if the fates allow.
We should learn more about how my wife's job shakes out by the end of this school year. Everything pretty much depends on what happens with her income now.
Thanks for everyone's kind words and thoughts.
I want to say that It is really nice to see this site take off and become more popular.

Ron - I hope you and the Mrs can find a nice gig in a warm place. Think of it this way: year round Vetting!

You have a good job, too, and in some parts of the country, it's in high demand, so you should be able find work, too.

Good luck!!!!!
