GS977 - I know this may not be the right thread for it, but you absolutely do not want to wear your harnesses as you show them in this picture. If they're for looks and you use your stock 3-pt belts, great, but if you're only using the harnesses when you drive I suggest a different seat or a different belt routing.

Your shoulder belts will separate in a frontal impact allowing you to go straight through the windshield. In addition, you crotch belt will not prevent you from submarining, meaning you'll slide down the seat and the lap belts will tear up your guts.

Please don't drive the car with this config...

wow, what do you see. when i strap in tight i can't move an inch in any direction if i wanted to. me and a friend went to a road course and the belts held us in the seat with no movement at all in any direction around the course. once you pull the belts tight you can't budge an inch. the 2 side belts are using the original seat belt holes and bolts so i know they aren't going anywhere. the back ones are bolted to the cage which is welded to the frame. and the front is bolted to a bar welded to the seat mount.
you have me concerned now. what do you think is wrong with it. i do thank you for saying something if the belts are not right. i don't want them to be just for looks.
thank you

The primary issue is simply that in a crash EVERYTHING is different. Think about this - fighter pilots black out at 6 g's. In a crash, we use sensors that can register 250 g's. Although a typical 30 or 40 mph crash may be more like 30. Still 5 times higher than the black out point. Strange things happen to your body and everything around it. I work on automotive safety systems for a living, I've seen hundreds of crashes and exactly what happens to a person (well...dummy) if they are out of position. And for a street car we test up to about 45 mph, not over 100 mph like you'd see on the track.

Check out this link, it's got lots of great information on the proper installation and use of safety harnesses.

http://www.schroth.com/installation-instructions/en/index.html

I'm not trying to spread fear, hopefully you'll never need the harnesses at all. But improperly installed ones are just as dangerous as not using anything, your standard OEM 3 point seatbelts will be better. It is a lot of work and a lot to digest, but this is your LIFE we're talking about.

I think what he sees is the same thing I see. The shoulder, lap and side belts are running over the seat instead of through it.

A standard 3 point belt will generally hold you in place on a road course. I've driven all kinds of courses including police pursuit courses (which I taught) with standard belts and they worked fine.

The problem happens when you crash

The forces exerted are far greater than the simple forces resisted on the course.

The shoulder belts have nothing to keep them in place and on your shoulders. Once you start to dive or move laterally, it's easy enough to slip out.

The crotch belt is coming over the top of the seat cushion. It will allow too much forward movement causing the lap belt to be the only thing really trying to hold you in place.

It's probably going to get ugly real fast brother

Please take his advise.
