And it's for reasons such as this thread:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1943479
Like the proverbial train wreck, I'm both repelled and drawn to it at the same time.

I check the F/S section daily and occasionally read through tech and general and generally just end up shaking my head. It's great to see threads like this though, existing long enough to make more aware of how things are there and to get more of them over here. This one's lasted surprisingly long over at the "train wreck" forum!

I only go there now to use the for sale section and to search for tech answers. I search here first, then there, then post a question here if I can't find the answers to the questions. By searching there, if I find the answers, they were usually posted by members that are here now. I don't post questions or answers or chat or anything there anymore.

I think they decided not to lock it because they are really getting a bad rep for locking needlessly.

I pleaded for them to unban the recent outsted members a few weeks ago.

It was a lot more fun with the outsted members were still posting on CF.

I have to admit, I have a lot of time vested in CF. It is programed into my daily computer use.

But thing is.......a lot of the members; that I trust know what they are talking about, are over here now.

It still feels like home over here, because so many are the same people, who were over CF before the "changes" took place.

Hey LD85, thanks for all your help and advice with the hsr intake. Mine is up and running great now. I posted a few pics in the off topic section the other day, and another post had all the details. The thread on CF about your hsr build helped me quite a bit. We should bring that thread over here if we can, lots of useful info.

Yeah, I think some people would rather go to the dentist than to the race track. Of course, they'll sit there and waste your time telling you about how they WANT to.

But hey, I was kicking tires for at least a year before I finally dove in. I may wait until April for my next one, since it's the only track within 4 hours of here, pretty sad considering I'm in SoCal. Plus I want to do some easy miles to break in the new trans anyways.

Until we get some more road racers on here I'll still be an avid CF member...come on guys, grow a pair and head to the track!

You did Cal Speedway, right? How far is Willow Sprs. or Button Willow?

Cal Speedway is 2 hrs
Willow Springs is actually only about 3.5
ButtonWillow is about 4.5

But unless I leave at 3am in the morning, I have to drive in traffic all the way through Orange cty, LA, SFV to get up there.

I guess I shouldn't complain. I did California and Streets of Willow in December, Willow was a looooong day. I even skipped my last run group.

Yea, any same day drive back from the track is a bitch. Driving back from Laguna on a Sunday nite damn near kills me, 6 1/2 hrs.
All of my races are a min of 4 hour tows but fortunately I'm at the track for 3 days and only have to drive one leg per day.
ThunderHill and Sears Point are 4 , Laguna is 6 1/2, Buttonwillow, Vagas and Willow are 8 1/2. Portland is a real bitch at 12 1/2 so I've only done that 3 times.

I am lucky though, my test track, Reno-Fernley is 35 minutes.

Laguna Seca has been a dream of mine for a long time. I will drive the corkscrew before I leave this earth.

Sucky as the midwest is, we have a pretty nice selection of world-class tracks within a reasonable drive. And there is a plethora of great ones that are a bit smaller and don't have the facilities to handle a televised event, but are still a blast to drive.

So Bill, I guess that's our deal...I'll meet you at Laguna someday for a ride in one of those little death traps you call Karts.

BTW cage is complete, lexan in the front, new roof weighs in at about 1.5 lbs. I'll get some pics up soon but there is still too much real work to do before Friday so it'll have to wait.
