Without all the help and tech support of bmwgsa, this never would have happened this fast!

We are up, we are running and everything seems to be working very nicely!

Whoo-hoo!!!!

As mentioned on the welcome screen, we are fixing a few bugs. There are posts missing, but don't fret about it, they ain't coming back! These were posts right at the cusp of the conversion and did not make it over.

I know this is really been beat to death, but here goes anyway.

I think you guys are finally getting the best of me. The more I contemplate my exhaust system dilemma the more I want to go ahead and order some long tube headers and install them now.

Out of all the types out there what is the best bang for the buck? Should I retain EGR or not? I do plan to pass Emission inspection here in Maryland.

What's a good way to go.

Went to Beech Bend with my 01 6sp Z51 cp. yesterday. It was my first time at the track with this car. And the 1st time since 1994 that I was at the track with a manual shift car.

All things considered I was very happy with the end result.

On the 1st 2 runs I didn't do a burnout. Tire pressure was set at 29 hot after the 90 mile trip there.

1st run...Launched at about 2000 rpm, some spinning and wheel hop. Also some spin and hop in second. 60ft 2.11 1/8= 8.66 @ 79.12 1/4 = 13.43 @ 104.87....missed 3rd on this run.

2nd run...Launched at 3,000 rpm lots of spin and started wheel hop after the tree. 60ft 2.22 1/8= 8.75 @ 86.15 1/4 13.34 @ 108.65

3rd run... After to talking to an 11 sec. C5 Z06 driver I backed into the water and did a short burnout, then went straight to the line. I launched at about 1,800 rpm and got the clutch out real quick.

I then mashed the throttle, the car might have bogged some but there was no spin that I noticed. Also no spin or hop in second. 60ft 2.14 1/8= 8.60@ 86.48 1/4 = 13.16 @ 109.80

I'm pretty much a raw rookie at racing a 6speed so I made no flat shifts. I shifted as quick as I could but did a full but quick throttle lift between shifts. Also I was hitting 4th just before the traps. I also shifted at 5,600 - 5,800 rpm a few hundred rpm below red line just to be safe...

I'm pretty sure there is a 12 second run in the car but not so sure it has a 12 second driver. Maybe MR Mojo will be avalible to drive her into the 12's when he visits Beech Bend... Anyway I was more than happy to run 13.1 at almost 110...

It's a done deal. I have a Photosmart 8050 printer that I use for printing stuff off the computer and small photo projects. I needed the Officejet all in one for recieving or sending daily faxes, occasional small copying projects and occasional scanning to upload items up to file. I bought the HP L7580 because of it's pricepoint ($239) and because of my familiarity of the product. It's replacing an Officejet 6110 so it's basically the newer bigger brother. It has a solid commercial feel to it not like some others I had appraised. My wife and I both are heavy handed so a delicate item would not fit the bill. Thanks for all your comments. I will keep them in mind if I upgrade the office at home or at work and apply your knowledge base as usual.

sadly... no... babe sections cause too much angst... people post crap that they shouldn't... they cause work filters to block us... and gee, do an image search on "babe" and you will only find 8 bazzilion hits.

How did you determine the low current drain and what is the reading?

When the battery goes down, you say it won't start. Does it turn over?

Well, if the other solution is to chuck it out the window, you might as well give it a few mins and see if the thing works. It won't take you long to set it up.

We also have a HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One, which I'm thinking is similar to the one you're looking at. I think it's a really nice machine, the color printing quality is fantastic. If you already have a Photosmart, do you need to add the OfficeJet? Or is your current Photosmart not all-in-one?

Just make sure the header bolts are long enough. My Hooker flange is thick and I went with 1" allen socket head bolts made out of SS. Any good fastener shop will have them.

Battery draining

Hmmm.

My battery drains after the car sits for a couple of days to the point that the car won't start -- it's a '94 Vertte. I have the FSM, have followed it's guidance and am now stumped. I know the following:

1. Generator checks out and is charging the battery
1a. While driving, the voltage -- as observed on the instrument - is
between 14.2 and 14.4 volts
2. The battery was tested on a load-testing machine and is fine
3. I removed the battery from the car and let it sit for a couple of days --
it did not lose its charge.
3. Current drain when the car is shut off -- very low
4. There are no aftermarket items installed

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Why is it that vette people are among some of the rudest people around? We're always bashing on one another. The newer gen's barely wave. And if you are 5 mins late your left out? I belong to other car clubs that allow any kind of cars and the people are not as uptight as some of us. For being among the few to own a Corvette we should be better than this.
I am looking forward to CorvetteGuru . Been a bad day here

its sad that this guy is turning out this way. Ive read some posts he posted in over at the other place and he seems like a decent guy to talk to. I also have noticed that he is all too quick to dis the irs in our cars. Also his claims of breaking all that irs stuff in his car just makes me wonder how much is actually true or is he exaggerating to make his setup look better. Ive never dealt with him but just the way he talks about his setup compared to the irs just makes me Leary. I'm not saying the irs is the best thing out there for drag racing and such but it cant be all that bad or else why would gm stay with it for so long especially in Zr-1s which is a true corvette powerhouse. gm made the corvette to be driven from point A to point B not to be beat on at drag strips and this is true about any production vehicle. Continual abuse can and will break things especially parts that aren't designed to take it.

Wow! NOS inkjet printer. Leave it sealed and wait for the price to go up.
Should be worth about what you paid for it at about the same time a C4 is worth more than 10K

What? maybe 20 years?

JSUP,

Believe me I understand. I think that all the armchair mechanics read one little bit of information and don't really know anything else. So... to them that is gospel!
The whole online phenomena kills me sometimes. People have a hard time being original.
I want to applaud you for actually trying to help that kid. If it weren't for you he would have left that thread thinking he needed another 20K to finish his car. Sad!! I know these things can be done on the cheap. Even thought I paid top $$ for my heads, I have still done a pretty good job of keeping costs low.

Cheers

Well, now it's just sport. I'll keep poking the cats with a stick and see if I get a real answer out of any of them.

I asked for conclusive proof. Give me a side by side dyno that demonstrates AFRs are worth the money. No takers yet. I'll just keep asking and they'll keep telling me about FLOW.

What they don't anticipate, is that I'm stubborn. I will win on duration alone!
