Dynamat is very dense and thin, derived from tar paper.
Frost king is lighter and thicker, like insulation. Dense materials absorb lower pitched sound waves and vibrations per mass, softer lighter (and therefore necessarily thicker) materials absorb higher frequencies, like wind noise, road noise, etc. I did my whole floorboard in tar paper (fatmat) and it was a complete waste. Use it if you've got a monster sub that is rattling the car to death. Don't use it if you just want to reduce noise. You need something similar to what Bogus posted for that. The recycled padding, similar to carpet padding, is what they use from the factory, because it works! And it's not all a specific density (like foam is) which probably gives it a wider range of sound damping ability. It's also important that whatever you put in can keep its thickness. If you fill the whole floorboard with cottonballs, then smash them down, they will be denser and not give you the same sound properties.

Here's one that I have posted on "that other site" of the 1964 coupe that I had 30 some odd years ago. Don't flame me too bad as 1. these were common mods to these cars back then. and 2. It wasn't a pristine car before the mods were done. :angel9:
Interior the way it looked when I got it. Interior after I had it re-done.

I love the idea of the dedicated C4 site, but it isn't all that practical... there just isn't enough traffic to grow with... Why not? You won't rake in as much cash, but for practical purposes, a C4 gen site would probably share more in common with a 3rd gen F-body site than it would with a C5/C6 site. The social groups and interests are very different and you don't see those people crossing between C4/C5 forums much at all, so I don't see any overriding need to combine the two into one site. Now the C5/C6, is pretty much the same group.

We cna easily put up a map to show where people are from. There used to be a free one, but each member would have to input the info themsleves. I will check into this.
As far as racing..I would love to do that one day..... i actually don't think your too far away. I used to live in MI, aroound Saginaw. It was about a 7 hour drive from where I am now.

We are working on the charity options... but for the moment, we are going to take that a little slow.
I love the idea of the dedicated C4 site, but it isn't all that practical... there just isn't enough traffic to grow with... As for "cruise in's," we are gonna have Guru Gatherings! Nothing is firmed up yet, tho...

Be wary of Randy's Ring & Pinion (ringpinion.com). When I researched them I found countless stories of them reboxing cheaper Yukon gears into more expensive name brand boxes. You can tell what you're getting by the engraving on the gears.

The other thing to consider, is the original GM manufacturer may not even make them anymore. GM will use different manufacturers as time goes on, so quality isn't necessarily the same. They do have certain standards these companies are supposed to meet.
But keep in mind just because you're getting an AC-Delco radiator, doesn't mean it's the same as what you removed from the car. It could be the exact same manufacturer as that crap Chinese brand except with a marked up price and a fancy box. This is why the replacement parts never seem to last as long as the originals. Plus they don't exactly get put on a brand new car, so any other unmaintained items will wear em out quicker.

Been longer than that for me....lol. Did the flux core come with the machine? Seems like I had one of those in my shop, and I'm not quite sure (memory) if you can get the Lincoln 110 to run flux core, I seem to remember using bare wire with 75/25 gas. As far as the helmet goes..no idea, only the old typical helmet use.

I'd love to start some track events for guru members...but I'm not sure how much interest there is over here for that type of thing yet. I see a lot of "I'd love to try that someday" until the time comes to send in some money :sad5:
bogus, do you have any data on member demographics, primarily where the biggest concentration of members reside? If it's heavy in one area maybe we could set something up there. If it's SoCal I'll be happy to come out and run one...

Chuck, I am pretty sure those lines are machined/pressed in from the factory and can not be removed. I had my rail in pieces last year and that was the only part that did not come loose.

Good question, and I dont have an answer. Does it appear to be pressed in? Dont think it comes apart separate as the fuel rail itelf does (it can be disassembled). It almost has to be pressed in. Oh well, the plater is going to see what he can do with it anyway. I want both pieces chromed but the prep process is the glitch.

I'm not sure which bucket of bolts I have in my 94, presumably the 700r, but the only problem with mine is I seem to bump up against the rev limiter often when I punch it. Which might indicate some slippage. Don't know if thats a function of clutch packs or mearly an adjustment. shifts pretty hard when I just get into it a bit though.

Does that count for anything?
A buddy of mine's father purchased these cars as projects probably decades ago. He got them running, but was killed in an experimental aircraft accident. I never met the father, but I did become friends with his son via a sportbike website. I'm guessing this was maybe in '99 or '00 when I was hanging out with this guy a lot. This guy and I hung out at least twice a week for a few years, but when my wife and i had our third child, they just kinda stayed away. So we don't see each other anymore. BUT his grandfather has a farm way out in the prairie, east of Pueblo. We went out there one day... My buddy opened the door of a dirty little barn, and HOLEE SHEEET! There was a red '57 in there! The car was probably 90% complete. Recent red paint, white coves, old school slotted mags. He fired it up, and backed it out of the barn. Then asked if I wanted to take it for a spin. HELLZ YES! So, I'm about 6'3" tall and was about 270 lbs at the time. It was a little tricky maneuvering my right leg around the huge steering wheel, down into the footwell. After that you had to commit to aiming your ass at the seat, much like a C4. No power steering in this beast. No power anything, I don't think. It was like a big plastic go-kart with a V8 strapped to it's frame. Loud, raw and loads of fun. I put a couple miles on it, with my knee almost coming up over the door sill when I shifted before I got tired of the experience. So I spun the car around on a dirt road and headed back to the barn. We parked the '57 and moved on to the next garage. This one had a '56 or '57 Chevy Nomad wagon inside. It was tan and looked to be in very good shape. We did not drive this one. Kind of a neat car, though. Great for getting groceries or speed parts for the Vette, ya know? Anyway, door number three had a big ol' Buick of some sort. Seventies Vintage. Ugly, but reasonably well preserved. Moving on.... Door number four. A red '62 in decent condition. This was my friends baby. I drove that around as well. I must say that other than the similar dance around the steering wheel to get into the car, this one felt almost civilized. Very comfortable. I could easily have driven this car for many hours without fatigue. This car was also a manual, with a transplanted 327 and a crazy transmission out of a truck. The shift pattern was reverse of normal, and in 2-4th gear if you let off the throttle, it shifted into an overdrive for each of the three gears. It was not working very well during our drive, but it was still an experience I will never forget, and it further cemented in my brain that I would one day own a Corvette. Kind of a silly story, but thanks for letting me share it.

I think I speak for many of us. We appreciate the effort. I see a capital
letter in that last post, so we know you can capitalize and punctuate. You should use the best English grammar, and punctuation, possible, out of respect for your fellow forum members and, selfishly, just to be better understood. I doubt you are missing all that you might think you are. There isn't that much to it. I'm guessing the three different views of the jack handle/wheel lug wrench, for the three different mountings for various years, complicated the illustration. I cropped the pic down to just the spare tire carrier to make it easier to see. Because it is the same pic, cropped, the item number descriptions and part numbers match the figure in my previous post. RACE ON!!!

The outfit I have worked with does custom graphics for automotive applications, as well as signs and stuff. They can do pretty much anything. They made my friend's white '93 look like Speed Racer's Mach 5. Not my style, but it is striking.
I'll have to get pix of that sometime. I had to drive it home from the shop. As much as I LOVE Speed Racer, I wanted to die... And to top it off a guy in a C5 waved at me at an intersection... Figures...

I've had pretty good luck with the Aluminum Wheel Cleaner that comes in spray bottles.
They make various kinds, so you might just read the label on the bottle. The safer ones are the "All Wheel" cleaners. But, if all your doing is straight aluminum you wouldn't have to go with one of those. I found one, and I can't remember the exact name. But it was something with Aluminum Wash in the name. Then use a soft brass bristle brush (or a stiff tooth brush) for scrubbing. The above works great on the suspension components. Just don't use anything with Caustic in it, as the caustic will attach the Aluminum.

A couple of weeks ago, I got the dreaded hissing sound from the booster. I replaced the check valve and thought that fixed it. We had a couple of weeks of cold weather (for Phoenix) 30 - 40*. Anyway, I've discovered that when it is cold, the booster hisses. In the afternoon when it's warm (65-70*), no hissing and the brakes work great. What would you check?

cuisinatvette Would you put a small window sticker/decal on? Tshirts, mugs, hats, even koy ring fobs would sound good.

CSS996 I was playing last night w/powerpoint and I couldn't get the "C" to strech the way it apears on the forum Logo. Also looking at making a logo specific for each generation 1 thru 6+. Does your outlet do multi-color decals?
