asked if I would pipe in on a thread.

Im done with Vette forums, guys.

Vettes are gone, C4 crowd has gone in the toilet; advice is ignored for a hack fix, been stuck for $1000's with the porting stuff so its time wasted logging on anymore. Had tried to sell a bunch of parts I have but honestly the C4 crowd is the cheapest and flakiest Ive come across, hate to say it. (those of you who arent dont be offended).

Its a different crowd these days is what Im saying.

To those of you I know you know how to reach me.
If not, port4hp@live.com

Thought Id pipe in and say siyanora.

Thanks to all for the laughs over the years.

Oh, wait. That's the other forum.

Glad you're still around, (alive, I mean) and sorry to hear about the flakes.

I hope the job situation has stabilized.

Well, if you think about it, the C4's have gotten so cheap anyone can buy one, and that said, younger people are buying them, asking the questions, and then ignoring the answer unless it is what they want to hear.

Ask me how I know.... and remember, I teach high school kids!

Sounds like you are dissing us because of other fools.

The bigger problem is that so many C4 owners are able to buy the car, pay the insurance and gas bills and when something big breaks, fall on their face.

And they don't know to fix it... cause many won't listen...

Ron, maybe it's time to get out from under that C4 and get into a C3. They're a lot of fun to work on and it's a lot harder tomake them look like a ricer. Might be the crowd change you're looking for.

DB - Ron had an 89 coupe and 90 ZR1. Sold both of them.

He has done the C3 thing, perhaps going back a gen isn't a bad idea.

There is something about C4 owners that is disturbing... I don't get it... I think a lot of it has to do with the perception that C4s are not collectable.

The C4s that ARE collectable, the owners have the same attitude as owners of L88s... fascinating, eh? And a collectable C4 isn't nearly as valuable as anything with an L88. Short of a few people, the ZR1 crowd is the #1 reason I avoid the car.

I'll miss the posts of someone who has good knowledge. But, this goes along the with the theme of posts over at CF. They seem to get one or two a week saying:

Someone told me my C4 is crap!
People don't respect the C4!
C4 owners are losers!
Blah, blah, blah.

The C4 is a cool old Chevy, nothing more, nothing less. With the number of cars out there, and the price range, you're going to get all kinds of owners... racers, waxers, wanna be's and losers.

I don't know any collection of people that numbers over 10 that doesn't include clunkers.

Good luck.

Both.

I will never forget... it was 1990/91 time frame. The ZR1 was still new. This older fellow shows up at our local Saturday night cruise-in. I tried to ask him a couple of basic questions and the bastard simply blows me off.

I have run into that attitude more than once with ZR1 people... I will qualify, tho, that most of the folks I have dealt with on the forums with ZR1s have been very nice.

It happens all the time. I've run into it with the new Zr1, the C6 Z06 and the C5 Z06 and just the plain jane C5.

When a new car comes out and people have spent money on it, they think they are the shit and above everybody else.

The current Callaway guys are a bunch of douchebags. They hardly show up for the Gathering, they never take their car down the 1/4. And as a whole are a bunch of snobs. I have met very few decent Callaway owners.

Corvette,Lambo,Cobra,Jeep,Studebaker you name it, its the same car/mechno-techno commonality that unites the group with the same interests....its a hobby!!!! its something you can focus on other than mundane crap that goes on all around us... I agree some owners are a$&holes and have zero techno skill, comprehension of the history and uniqueness of the machine. I'm truly impressed with the knowledge base that this group has...it's a guy thing!! you know the routine Sat. afternoon and early evening you tinker, tune, wash/wax enjoy the moment you and your car in my case a collie....no honey dos, no kids..just bliss..and no I was,nt a hippie in the sixties...

Ron had several deals helping people with their cars, all years and types, fall through the cracks.

pretty much they were after free advice, and then found another person to do it, or he got all the parts to do the porting and they 'flaked' on him, sticking him with the parts.

He still have several sets of NOS LT1 heads if anyone is interested.
