The part number for a 95 is 12556260, the description indicates it comes with bolts and seals, GM Parts Direct shows it as still available. PM me for a copy of the parts CD if interested.

Well...say I put gas in my car and the little bars are up to the half way mark. Now if I start driving a bit, they might go down a bar or two, then if I coast for a while, they'll go up a few bars.
Is my reading suppose to change to match my driving habits? But the gas level in the tank doesn't change, so why does the readout? Shouldn't it be steady?

Also anesthes may have something right where he says the clutch fork alignment is causing the slave to preload the clutch. Unfortunately I just sold him my longer ZR1 pivot stud for 1/2 what I paid for it. I'll try just shimming the stock pivot stud further out, or maybe spacing the slave cylinder rearward a bit. I have the same setup, a 4+3 flywheel w/ the ZF6. However I don't have the stock pressure plate, I'm using an LT5 unit. It's a good bit thicker than the other one so you won't have to mess about with that stud. [quote] Wow, that is interesting, I never realized that the PP was thicker

I agree with you that people are not as courteous as they used to be. However, that all starts at home. My son will be raised to open doors for people, know when to say thank you, please, yes sir and no sir.
Many households do not raise their children to be courteous. If you do they will seem more like freaks compared to other kids. However, I will just have to have a freak. Most drive thru's that have young kids working the windows act as if they could not care if you came back or not. Management should be training these people better. Chick filet has the most courteous staff in our area. I was driving through a Popeyes in Versailles, KY one time. The girl working the drive thru was so courteous. When I got to the window to pay, I asked her if I could speak to her boss. She got him and I told him how lucky he was to have someone who was so pleasant with the customers. I suggested he give her a raise to hold on to her. He responded that he was happy to hear compliments instead of the usual complaints and that made his and her day. I see a lot of nice people and a lot of A**holes in my line of work. We deal with many restaurants and you see some people who should never eat out. Some of them are professional gripers who try to get a free meal everywhere they go. Personally, I try to be very pleasant with people unless they are intent on pi**ing me off. Then I can be nasty with the best of them. I just don't like being that way. Loyalty is becoming a thing of the past. People don't stay with the same employers like they used to. Of course, some employers, especially big corporations, don't care about many of their employees. I'm not getting rich by having my own business but at least I can run it the way I see fit. Many of our customers are loyal to us and we are loyal to them as well. The biggest problems we have had is with larger franchisees who think you should drop everything to cater to them. Just my 2¢ worth.

Many people recommend the Wix filters as being very good as well. I started using them about a year ago and have been happy.
14:1 sounds pretty lean to me, but I don't know anything about Nitrous motors. I think you want to be more in the 13 range. I remember reading that 13.2 was optimal, but don't bank on that as I can't remember the source.

Seem to recall seeing steel tubing at Home Depot in various common ID's 5/16", 3/8" etc. if you don't care for the black pipe. It is in the hardware section with the other small flat, angle, square metal stock.

Some 1/4" black pipe should be about right for that. Get a piece long enough that you can cut off the threaded ends and have enough stock for the length you need. Shouldn't cost more than a buck or two at the hardware store.

I bought new tires, I need an alignment. The shocks are an unknown age, not original, but not new. They are solid blue, some rust.
If I change the shocks, should I do it before an alignment? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. I was going to wait on the shocks, but if I need to, I'll change them before the alignment. I'm considering KYBs?

It has been a fairly quiet day work wise. It has given me a chance to catch up on some paperwork. Now if we can just get sales to pick up then all will be grand.

Our business works off a margin as well. I am going to throw out some theoretical numbers (not our real margins) and show how it works.
Touch screen systems used to cost us much more money than they do now days. Let's say in the old days my total cost of goods sold on a system was $20,000. If I wanted to sell this at a 40% margin I would divide the $20k by .6 and the selling price would be $33,333 plus programming, installation and training services. Now the same system may only cost me $15,000 so if I use the same margin then I would be selling the system for $25,000 plus the other services. Now I am making $10k per system instead of $13.333k per system. A loss i profit of $3333 on the same size system. Our business has become more competitive and we must sell more systems to make what we used to. However all of our expenses for running a business have gone up. Margins can work both ways for a business. In Exxon's case it has increased profit because the demand is higher and the prices have gone up, yet they are still operating off the same margin. In my case I am making less money because prices have gone down. In reality we have to sell 1.5 systems to keep pace with when we sold 1 system. We can't change our margins in order to stay competitive. It can be a real catch 22.

The car is cool. I thought the writing was pretty bad. But that is in keeping with the tradition. Great to see "The Hoff" in a little Cameo.
I entered to win a vehicle. Would be funny to win the Mustang and be asked what I was going to do with it. "Oh, I'll probably sell it and buy parts for my Corvette...." Just kidding. If I won the 'Stang I would probably keep it, and drive the hell out if it, just to piss off the collectors. I wish they made the new Mustang in dark green metallic, like the Fastback from Bullitt. THAT would make me want one pretty badly. Love the green with Torque Thrust style wheels. The jury is still out on whether I would watch the show again.

Pull the kick panels and look inside. Birdcage problems show up there first.
The more $$ you spend initially, the less you will spend on restoring it. A $10,000 car will need $20,000 to restore. A $20,000 car will need $5,000.

Hmmm..finally got to watch it today after Tivo-ing it. It was pretty interesting. I guess the coolest thing was they should the old faithful L98 from the first Knight Rider.
The show itself was okay. The Shelby Stang looked cool as hell....I wish they would have stuck with something from GM though.

I need some tubing that is 5/16 inch through the middle. I spaced my AC bracket off with washers, 5 stacked up, but I think tubing would be the better way to go. I had to do this to clear the valve cover.
Any suggestions where I can get tubing that I can just cut to the thickness I need it for spacers? It's working fine with the washers, but it would look better and be easier to deal with if I had tubing. Thanks.

The problem I have with hard-core conservative politics is simple: it makes anyone who acts on behalf of the welfare of the people look communistic. This is the result of the GOPs victory in the war of words. I find it reprehensable. I agree with your overall statement, but in the specific case, I disagree. The specific case: If Exxon makes $40B, you can be part of it, buy Exxon stock! If we try to control what the oil companies make, we'll be treated to shortages, look up the gas shortage in the 1970s. It's a bad idea to try to control business, and a worse idea to get upset about profits. Furthermore, it is unconstitutional. No where in the constitution is it stated that the government will regulate corporate profits. But, I agree with you that concern for fellow Americans is regarded as quaint. It's not a GOP plot, it's society. Americans in general, want to "get theirs". They don't care if they have to sell their mother to do so. That applies to politicians, ALL politicians. So, politicians, in their effort to "get theirs" take money from large companies, and other countries through lobbiests. Our national policy is being written by Exxon, Pfiser, and China, to name a few. Both sides of the asile are guilty. The major difference I see is Democrats have taken to pretending to be the party of groups, (Latinos, Blacks, Gays, Feminists, etc.) So, if you believe business shouldn't be hamstrung, you find Democrats generally unappealing. Remember, you can't tax a business. If you tax a business they pass it on to the consumer. It's just another tax on you and me. And yes, I'd be for the fair tax. What to do? We get the government we deserve. As long as 9 out of 10 people you talk to say "I'm not political", meaning they have no interest or knowledge of what's going on in the government, we will get more of the same. Until and unless people care more, and get good information, we're doomed to be under a government that has an interest in only themselves and being re-elected. I'm not saying business should have a free hand. Obviously the same kind of people run corporations, as are in politics. In general business would grind their employees to dust for an extra $0.05 profit. Some of that is coming to roost in our current economic troubles. You can't constantly drive down what people make, and expect the biggest consumer market on the planet to continue to thrive. A competent, motivated government can and should influence business behavior without totally regulating. Won't happen until Americans start paying attention.

I don't believe the crossover tube is available from GM anymore. If you can get a number though, some dealers may still have one in stock. Good luck.

Does anyone have links to factory part number lists, LT1 specifically? I'm looking for some odd things that my usual sources are not turning up. In particular, I'm looking for the crossover tube, banjo bolts and sealing washers.
Having a database of part numbers would be useful anyway- that would make a good addition around here.

Worked for a couple of hours and now I get to go to the doctor in a bit. Then I'll head back to the shop to check on things and order the parts for a customer transmission rebuild.

Right on, youve been through hell on this one, nothing better than hearing it turning over and catching its first breath of life. Keep us posted. It wasn't that bad. I took my time, asked a lot of questions. I was in no rush. Better to do it slow than twice. Twice always costs more and takes longer. It was the little stuff like grinding down the threads on the nut that holds the fuel line into the TPI fuel rail. That was touch and go, could have set me back some. There are no clean fuel solutions. No matter how neatly you do it, it's a cluge job.

Guys, I'm not doing a group purchase.
This post is 8 months old and I bought some Iggees a long time ago. While I thought it was a great idea, there just wasn't any interest here. Maybe a mod can lock this and if someone else is interested in trying a group purchase, they can start a more current thread. If you get at least 10 people who want to buy seat covers, call Iggees directly and I'm sure they'll work a discount out for you.

I used Eastwoods "zinc" paint on vetteslaves 88 (plenum, runners, TB, etc), looks about as close to new cast aluminum as you can get. Very nice paint, sets up quick.
Polishing the rough cast runners will be a pain in the but although it can be done. Only problem with using a dremel is to be caeful so you dont get divots in the casting as they will show when the final polish comes out... its doable though if you are patient.

I know this has been discussed to death, but what the heck? I can't drive my car until it warms up, and I am interested, so here goes.
My plenum and runners look pretty crappy. Valve covers aren't good either, but the plenum and runners are more prominent, so that's where I'm going first. I figured I'd get a dremel and use it to grind/polish the plenum. Good idea? Additionally, my oldest lost my dremel. So he gets to buy me a new one. Where is a good place to get one? Ebay? Finally, I'm going to paint my oil pan, should I avoid painting the flanges, I don't think it matters, just being sure. I'm going to use black engine paint on it. Oh, and finally, what gasket do you guys recommend? Ok, that should do it for now.

I on the other hand, am off for the holiday and spent
way too much time here already. Weather is overcast, grey and drizzley so I've been less than motivated. Plenty to do as always. Procratinating as always. Time to get off my

76 falls was shut down last year due to all the bare breasted ladies. Other places on the lake are making a comeback though. Alot of people missed coming down last year due to bad advertising about the low lake level. Even at 40k acres there is still plenty of water to have fun on. If you or Brut come down for the show gimme a holler and ill put you in with our corvette club !

Find a 400 block and destroke it to a 377. I think it is basically a 350 crank in a 400 block. You will have to research rod lengths and deck heights and all, but you would be able to rev way past 7500 if that is what you want. I can't give much advice there because I haven't done it myself but have heard of it being done for high rpm circle track cars. Be careful, most engines that make good power that high tend to lose alot of streetable torque on the low rpm end. You will need really low gears to help make that up. Consider the ultimate use of the car, cam selection and valve train components will be of utmost importance in a pushrod engine revving that high.
If you run a 2 piece rear main seal block in your vette I think you need to buy some sort of adapter to use the stock trans, I'm not sure there either tho because that is something else I haven't done myself. Maybe a search will give you more info on that.
