Fluff, I can relate to your ear problems, our youngest daughter is legally deaf in one ear because of infections. I've seen the blood and green junk running out of the ear before and believe me I remember the days of her crying and pain. God be with you.

I just had a break in the meetings here at school. you know, I spent all summer thinking about retirement and what to do (I'm eligible after this school year), and I thought that I would go ahead and retire, and in Kansas, it is possible to "double dip". I figured that I would do just that...retire and then double dip for a year or two, but after the first ten minutes of our first meeting yesterday (with all staff in the district) our superintendent had nothing but gloom and doom about this school year and the next two after...that pretty much did it for me. I'm going to find something else to do after I retire in June. Walmart greeter comes to mind pretty quick. It is just insane what education has become over the last 30 years. I keep saying to our administration that they should leaves us alone and let us do what we were originally hired to do and things would be straightened out in no time. I guess it is just time to get out.

I feel sorry for our children today, education is only a flicker of what it used to be. When I retire I doubt seriously whether they will even try to replace me..first off there isn't anyone to take my place...thirty-some openings in the state in my area (VocEd, woodworking and drafting/design) and the colleges and universities only turned out 6 graduates to take the places. and secondly with the financial situation of our economy, it would be a huge savings to just close down the Vocational programs.

OK, sorry for the book, I'm just really down about this situation.

I too turned 30, been married 10 years, and was working at my first (and only) teaching job (5th and 6th years). We started building the house that we currently live in. And when I say we were building it, that exactly what I meant. I was teaching a carpentry class at the time and with 5 students we started building the house at the beginning of the 85-86 school year. The basement was dug September 17 and we moved in May 9th 1986. Quite a house for five high school kids and a teacher to take on. 3500 sq ft (including the basement) two story house with attached two car garage. It was a truly hectic year. I am still at the same teaching position (we don't have the carpentry program any more) and I am eligible for retirement at the end of this school year.

I'm back at school today...I was looking forward to it, but it's nothing but bad news, thank God this is my last one. May can't get here fast enough. Retirement in June, then I guess I'll have to get e real job for a few years.

We check out in a little bit and have to head home....vacation is nearly over and tomorrow I have to head back to school. Hopefully I'll have some time to check in.

Matt, I can relate, except it was me who couldn't breath last night and wheezed something awful. I didn't sleep too well and I'm pretty sure it affected my wife's rest too.

No tee time this morning, but it it rained off and on last night so it will be a while until the course will be open. The daughter and family, who have been up here with us, will be heading home today. They have a 12 hour drive vs our 6, and with 4 kids it will be much longer than that.

Don't have a tee time today, it's just a walk on and they'll work me in. I plan on playing 18 again, then relaxing. The Corvette was so dirty that yesterday I decided to try and give it a spit bath. Never dreamed that the roads up here would be under construction, but dust and dirt are the name of the game this year. I found a way around to things without driving through the construction.....it's just 4 miles around the lake.

Had another early tee time. Not terribly busy this morning so we flew around. I played reasonably well. my SIL beat me by a stroke. This afternoon we are watching the two younger grandkids while the daughter and SIL take the two older ones on a hike.

1975, hummmm, well I graduated Community College and had decided not to go on. I was working in our little town and was planning on getting married to my high school sweet heart. I was driving my 1964 Corvette coupe, not a show piece, but it was mine. August 9th I did tie the knot and 34 years, three daughters and 8 grandkids later we are still happily married. Shortly after we married I was approached to go to work for a family whom I worked for through high school, as a grease monkey, to run their station and be a dispatcher for their other business (oil field service). It soon became apparent that a Corvette was not going to be practical, so early in 1976 we sold it and I vowed to again someday own another one. Life went on.

Had an early morning tee time, just got back. Played better today, getting use to the course and the altitude. We get to go listen to a sales pitch this afternoon. Oh joy, I love having my arm twisted.

well I got up early and went out to pay golf, it was down right chilly...42 degrees. It warmed up pretty quickly though. I played reasonably well. Came back ate lunch and took a nap. I haven't done much of anything since then...isn't vacation great!

Hey guys, after a 6 1/2 hour drive, we are here. Let me say that 7500' elevation is considerably cooler, temperature wise, than it was at home. We got here early enough that I have already played 9 holes of golf. The Corvette ran flawlessly.

Apparently I am the same age as Tommy and Volzfan. Yea, I was seeing the difference in the girls too. I was really into the Beatles at that time, trying to get my parents to let me grow my hair out, buy a pair of Beatle boots, Nehru collared shirts and a guitar. I didn't succeed at any of it. But I had a great collection of Beatle trading cards. I played baseball sponsored by this little known fast food place....McDonalds...after every game we went over to the "golden arches" and they gave us a burger, fries and a drink. Miss Little was my teacher (4th grade 64-65) and Mrs. Gleason was my 5th grade teacher.

I had my first ride in a Corvette that summer. My dad, a teacher, ran a "Play ground" for the recreation commission in the summer, and they had high school kids helping. This one girl that worked there was driving her brothers 63 SWC Riverside Red/black. He had been sent over to this weird named country as a soldier...Viet Nam, so she got to "take care of it". I hitched a ride one day I had to ride in the back end cargo area, but that hooked me.

Morning, oldest daughter and her family got in about 10:30 last night. They will head out to CO this morning. They will check in today, the wife and I will leave tomorrow morning as our check in is tomorrow. Got a few things to get done today, supposed to be hot, but no rain.

I think my wife knows better than to ask me those kind of things...maybe the additional 9 years...I don't know. She is not so into those kinds of things, thank God. But we will be headed to Colorado Sunday, in the Corvette, so we will spend our anniversary driving 6 hours to our vacation spot. I'll take her out to dinner Sunday evening. For our thirtieth our girls threw us a party, DJ, dance, the whole nine yards, that's more what my wife likes, family get togethers, friends, socializing. It was a great time.

Well I just got a phone call from my daughter and I get a reprieve today from the grandsons, hubby is off work today so they stayed home with their dad. Think I'll get the Corvette down and go over it for the trip and start packing.

Finally finished up the computer at 10pm last night. Glad to hear it's not as bad as you were thinking, Matt. I really got to start getting stuff together for our Colorado vacation today or tomorrow. I have a couple of cabinet face frames to build today, but that shouldn't take too long and then deliver that d*mn computer this afternoon.

Well I was having a do-nothing day yesterday until mid afternoon, then I had two phone calls with computer problems. So I worked on computers until 8 pm last night. And I still have to go back to one of them today to finish up.

Didn't do much yesterday, Washed the pickup after the excursion at the river (it needed it pretty badly) and played Men's night golf last night.....well I should say that I went out and swung the clubs, I played like cr@p. Our team shot -3, no help from me. That didn't finish in the money, but last night was steak night and the steak was good. Not much planned for today either.

Matt, I need to start working out, I just can't make myself start. Brad, have a great trip, Loveland is very nice. Yea the Twins are right up there with my Royals. We have 6 days before we get to head for Colorado, looking forward to it, but that also means that school starts right after I get back. Back to the grind.

This afternoon, some friends called and wanted us to go "tanking" (this is a past time of us rednecks), where you take a stock tank, put it in the river (Arkansas)and float down stream for an hour or two. We had three tanks and there were about 20 people. After we got out we had a cookout burgers, hotdogs, etc. Really enjoyable afternoon.

Changed oil in the pickup and the wife's car. Bought a new battery and installed it in the Vette. Went to a wedding and ate too much. Today not much planned, maybe a little detailing on the wife's car.

I think yours was better! I need more practice.

Bill, I can't imagine why that was a "scary" cut....after all that railing was what $350? I think I have a box of those balusters laying around here.

Well, I'm up and at 'em. Thinking I was going to bed early, I didn't finish that stupid computer until 11:30pm (see Weds chat). Today I have almost nothing planned. It's cool out and supposed to be all day (for July ) David, sounds like you're going to have one long day, hope you can stay awake.

I guess the next thing for me is getting ready to go on vacation...the cool Colorado mountains for a week, playing 36 holes of golf each day and then relaxing....then I have to go back to school starting the 17th.

I was on the road pretty early today. Got home about 4 pm. Unloaded the pickup then washed it. It rained just enough today to make the truck filthy. Being gone as long as we were, we had a mess of phone messages to return. One a friend having problems with his computer. Full of crap, so I am cleaning it up tonight. I'm bushed and headed for bed pretty soon.

Oh, we have had the AC on for 40 days straight. I thought our electric bills were high...thank God we don't have them as high as some of you.

I have had a busy day at my daughters house. Building walls, so the plumber could finish up, doing some electrical stuff, so when we moved the washer/dryer they would be functional. It's hot out in that room but coming down out of the attic it felt like it was air conditioned in comparison. The plumber did get everything done and we moved the washer/dryer over and hooked them up, worked like a charm. I have a couple more trips up in the attic tomorrow before I will be done. I then have to frame up a pocket door.

That's looking really good Bill. 4000 heck you've just got that new gun barely broken in, you'll have to do the rest of the house to make buying that gun worthwhile.
