STS Turbo for C4 In Development

"Raptor and STS have joined forces to develop a rear-mount turbo system for the C4 Corvette. Building on the foundation of STS's proven capability with rear-mount turbo charging, Raptor is currently developing rear turbo systems for the LT1, LT4, LT5 and L98 engine equipped C4. Rear mount systems have greatly reduced the complexity and corresponding cost previously associated with conventional turbo charging. Turbo charging maintains all of the great drivability associated with a stock engine yet can add in excess of 50% more power in most stock engine applications. The objective of the Raptor & STS program is to provide a product that has been thoroughly tested to fit properly, perform as represented, and "bolt-on" as nearly as practicable while still achieving that all important quality of appearance expected by Corvette drivers. The basic system is designed to be used on a stock engine but is capable of supporting well in excess of 600 chp with corresponding engine mods if the customer chooses. Option's to the basic system will be available for even greater performance potential."

Couple of "small" points to mention here:

1-Quote:
File the report immediately.
What the cop did for me is not FILE the report.
The cops take the report and not FILE the report. At least the report is taken.
Even if you file the report, unless the insurance company pays out, it doesn't matter. At least in Jersey. I had a report filed with a small accident I had. I fixed the damage out of pocket, and no harm.
Never hurts to file the report first, at least that way you're in the drivers seat.

It depends on the jurisdiction and the deparment policy. Most agencies assign a case or event number to each dispatch. When you clear the call, they want a clearance code or status. If the officer takes the report and clears with no report, there's no case number generated, and as such, no report.

If he'she clears with a report, it usually get's turned in. Some small agencies can do otherwise, but most nowdays' are by the book.

A reported crash even without a payout, can hurt you later if your company decides to audit. Just a word to the wise.

2-Quote:
Yeah, but only if you have no other option. Suing is expensive, time consuming, and doesn't guarantee you anything
!

Not really;) As mentioned by the OP, it's just $85.00 to file and serve in his jurisdiction These costs "can" be recovered in the settlement as well. YOu don't need an attorney for this one, but again, if you use one, the costs can be recovered
and...it "guarantee's" that you'll get a response He'll get served and be forced to respond to the claim, spend time and $$ defending himself, and should he fail to do so, you get a default judgment against the company. At that point, start your recovery effort

3-Quote:
Tell the guy if he or his boss doesn't pay by tomorrow, you're going to the cops asap and filing a report.

Be careful how you word this one. Depending on the statutes in your state, an either/or demand may result in an extortion claim rather than an option

A better comment might be a polite, if we can't reach an solution to this by end of business today, I'll have no recourse than to seek other remedies;)

Please govern yourself accordingly

I got my trusty 7424 out today - I just got some Stainless Works headers yesterday, so I thought I'd polish them up a bit before I install them (using some Mother's metal polish). Seems to be working great so far, though I'm gonna go get one of those mini-ball things to get into the tight spots.

It's not a CF event, it's a Corvette Museum event, in conjunction with brand X.

Get on the horn with Adam at the museum and talk to him.

If we all e-mail him/call him, I'm sure he'll figure out which way things are going;)

Regarding use of the 7424.

Have you considered practicing on your daily driver or perhaps on scrap
panels sourced from a friendly neighborhood bodyshop or bought
cheaply at Pick-a-part?

My first project with the dual action P-C was refinishing a bedroom set.
The project gave me an extended opppoortunity to become familiar with
the traits of the machine on material that was very forgiving and where
the risks were low.

Thanks for the help and insight guys. I went to the auto place and got some Mequiars #2 Fine-cut cleaner, #9 Swirl Remover and #7 Show car glaze. I already have some #26 wax so i'll finish up with that.

Thanks angains for all the tips and not using the paint claener will save me some time .

I will be there, but I'm booked at the Red Roof which is across from the Hampton/Baymont.
Just look for the guy with the red corvette.

No more Mr Niceguy from me. I've had too many disapointments. I let the police do their job and let the insurance companies, INS and any other agency line up to do theirs. That's what they're there for.

I got pics of the damage where it was parked but didnt think at the time to get pics of the moving van. Got the plate#, info on the co. and owner, bus. and cell#.

Im calling him at 10, to let him know if I dont hear from him by 11 a report gets filed. I cant believe he wouldnt wanna pay. Sounds like he wants it done at some "buddies" shop which wont happen. It got repainted a little over a year ago, its going back to the same place.
Only $85 to file in court and have the Sheriffs serve him, no big deal. Judge didnt buy my story on the hit and run from the trash truck (I did win though), wait til she hears this one.
Lets see...

-Trash truck takes out drivers side 2 yrs ago. Took yr and a half to settle.
-I rearend a lawyer last yr.
-6 mos ago the neighbor backs his truck into the front of mine.
-Got rearended at a red light a month ago .
-Been keyed more times than I can count
-now this..Poor truck, lol.

And that's just the beginning.

It'll give us a platform from which we can refine and add features and also I plan on tweaking and streamlining the interface.

We had been putting off those sorts of changes with the current software because it's a lost cause.

Possibly, we could make it. I had an idea for a get together down in Atlanta at the year one experience in May. We could meet up there and oogle the other cars too along with all the racing.

I'm going on 10 years on my stereo system, my projector is 14 years old, my last computer went 8 years before I gave it to my dad, still being used, my other laptop was 8 years old, my car is 23 years old, and my truck is 40 years old.

Way to drag it out! Some people "upgrade" that stuff every few years.

Yeah, gaming would be a different story. But a friend recently got a 24" LCD at the office, and he was showing me some footage he shot with an HD camera of his daughter's hockey game, and I was surprised at how clear and smooth it was on his monitor.

Did you get any pics?

Tell the guy if he or his boss doesn't pay by tomorrow, you're going to the cops asap and filing a report.

You are doing them a favor by offering to let them pay out of pocket, if they can't appreciate this, feck em. At least it's for a business, that probably increases your chances of getting paid since they can't disappear.

I would think delayed reports are very common, since many people try to resolve it themselves before reporting it. Why you delayed it is nothing to hide from the cops or insurance company, but obviously could still hurt your chances. Just don't lie and say it happened at some other time later.

Damn what luck. I think that truck of yours has had more spray jobs than Macaulay Culkin on a vacation at the neverland ranch.

I agree with all of what Shadow said there.

The bubbles/boxes around posts is confusing.

The one thing I miss on EVERY other forum I'm on is that "My Recent Topics" button. I love that, and having it here would be GREAT!

Advertising is good, but don't whore us out please. Just an FYI, I run adblock on all 6 computers. Your banners do nothing to phase me!!!

T-Shirts, and gatherings are a MUCH better idea imho.

Polos are okay as long as they don't have elastic on the arms.. ugh.. hate that

Noob section is okay, but sickys are better.

I spent a lot of summers while in school working at my uncle's body shop and learning from those guys, so I feel I can talk on this subject probably better than most others here.

I wouldn't waste my time with a paint cleaner if you are going to use your polisher next.

I would blow the car off to get the dust off, then wipe it down with a California Duster or Micro-fiber towel. Follow this with a detailer spray to clean the remainder of dust off the surface. Wipe it down nice and clean.

You need to determine how bad the surface is and what you need to do to accomplish your desired results. I had some bad swirls in mine and did a full three part polish before even thinking about waxing.

I don't know what products you plan to use to polish with, but I use commercial 3M products available through body shop supply houses. Polishing with coarse, then medium and then fine polishes take some time but are worth it. If you want to speed the process and you don't have a lot of swirls you can just use a medium polish then go to a glaze before waxing. Also remember that your pads come in different grades as well. I like the orange or yellow pads which are a little more coarse and offer a bit more action than the grey and white pads.
Here are the 3M products I use for polishing.
[web]http://www.biggrizzly.com/detailing/polishes.jpg[/web]

You can then follow up your polishing with a good wax of your choice. Adams has some great waxes as do Maguire's. I have become a great fan of the Adam's line of products, just haven't tried them all.

I have used Detailer's Paradise as a source of good products as well.

Call you local jurisdiction and make a delayed crash report. Most will take the information right over the phone.

I'd pay the company a visit with some witnesses, and discuss the matter with the "boss."

My best guess might be "Hector" is either an illegal or was NVDL and afraid of the repercussions.

Either way, they're liable for the damages.

If all else fails, sue the SOB and really make his day bad

Life's rough, but it's rougher when you're a dumbass.

Side Note about Pinks...

A friend I've had since HS, and the only other guy besides "Ace" Allen (former Guinness Land Speed record holder in his class) and myself that go near my vettes with a wrench, is going to be on the new season of Pinks coming up on March 5th and 12th.

Look for a Black Monte Carlo with "West End Motors" all down the side of it. I won't spoil the results, but there's a large gallery of shots from the races on the website below. Just click the Pinks Update link.

At the risk of repeating many of the things said here, you need several things to make this site grow.

Advertising-It doesn't matter HOW you do it, just do it (sorry NIKE).
Remember brand X before it went supernova? They had gatherings regionally pretty regularly. People who wanted to would put a windshield banner or sticker on thier car. T-shirts were made for various reasons (The Misfits, etc) with the forum name on them.

When there was a show or big event, Brand X would have a table or booth set up with a big damned banner that read...brand X!

Throw enough mud at a wall and some of it's bound to stick

Links...whenever and wherever possible.

T-shirts-Make 'em available. If you want one, buy one.

POLOS- I wear a lot of polos. They're comfortable, semi-professional enough that I can wear one to a meeting or gathering without looking like I just left the shade tree

The site:

Make it bolder and more interesting. As some have mentioned, it's pretty white bread right now Just no flash or eye appeal. It doesn't have to have rotating heads and bouncing pencils and you mentioned, just some eye appeal

The boxes around the posts...dump them. It get's a little confusing with the quotes and such and just doesn't look quite right. A move more toward Brand X's format might be a good thing

Make it easier (via a button or tab) to find new posts, a user CP to find replys to your onw posts and make the other forums more visible.

When I check in here, I hit new post and find a handful (maybe) of new posts. I totally miss anything in the other forums and have trouble finding things I've posted in before. It may be there but it needs to be K.I.S.S. for a lot of us. I don't have the time, energy or interest to have to dig for shit! I spend my days digging for information, I'm NOT going to spend my free time doing it...I'll move on...as will others.

Better emoticons! These blow...

And finally as said previously, we need NEW BLOOD! Having a site with a lot of answers is great, but not for an active forum

You need a lot of traffic...posts, threads, etc. to keep it lively.

There's another site I visit occasionally. I like the format and eye appeal, but the traffic is so slow there that I hardly go back anymore

There's a lot more to be done, but lets start with the simple stuff first

I would call it in now. The worst that could happen is that the cops say "too late".

The truck company obviously isn't keeping their promise so screw 'em I say.

I replaced my 17" CRT with a 20" wide screen LCD, and couldn't be happier.

I guess if I would have had a 21" CRT, it might have been different. :thumbleft:

Well...It happened for the umpteenth time, my truck got hit again yesterday.

Was parked up against a wall in an alley working at a building and while taking a smoke break I noticed a moving van hauling ass up towards me.

As Im watching I see his rear door swinging out. Thought, "Oh crap, thats gonna leave a mark". I wave and motion for him to stop which it seems like hes going to do .Hop in the truck, start it and as I go to throw it in D Hector decides to blow past me.

Well, as he accelerates his rear door swings open and smashes the left rear of my truck and Fs my quarter panel up.

And doesnt stop.

Anyway I catch the guy, he doesnt give up lic or ins but begs me to call his boss swearing he will pay. "Ok I thought, wtf I just wanna get it fixed.."
Should have beat his azz on the spot but that never leads to anything good...

Boss agrees over the phone to fix it, my body guy calls him with an estimate last night and gets a pretty rude remark. He discounted the proce pretty heavily, Im not even asking for rental (I work outta this thing).

Do I have 24 hrs....How long?

I shouldnt have any pity on this a-hole but thought if I was in his shoes Id like a chance to pay.

Just had this fixed, too. Man, if it wasnt for bad luck, I ...

One more thing. I am not a big fan of having to scroll from left to right to read an entire post or thread. Usually that's caused by an unusually large picture or image imbedded in a post or thread. I will often just get out of the thread rather than scrolling left to right ... and back ... to read it's contents. I have my monitor settings on 1024 X 768 pixels ... if I make it any tighter, I won't be able to read the text. A case in point, this message screen, at this very moment (Post a Reply), has exceeded the width of my screen.

Otherwise, I am very pleased with the more simple look of the site. Someone else said it already ... K.I.S.S.

Kent Moore offers tools for installing oil pressure gauges that screw onto the oil filter fitting and I think the oil filter then screws onto the tool just like some of the oil cooler mounts. Ebay prices are in the 10-20 dollar range.

With one of these you could then just screw in a bolt to block off the original hole and put your sensors on the oil-filter thing-a-ma-jig.

If they are still "sealed" in the original airtight package, I believe there is a pretty good chance they will work.

I agree that's the key if they are sealed they'll be fine. That's another thing though about inkjets that I don't like. If you don't use them often enough the cartridge will fail, not totally but you can figure on at least one smear per document.

Sorry about your loss lol.

I am a geek as well, and wouldn't use an LCD on my main desktop, the Samsung CRT's are just too damn good. The prices on LCD's now are dirt cheap, but to get one with the refresh to prevent ghosting and tearing that I need is too damn expensive.

I just got the thing in the mail to renew my warranty on now now 3 year old Samsung 19" CRT.

I bought an off lease (used) NEC 21" display back in '99 from UBid for $169 landed. Now the thing won't power on. I use LCD's and laptops all the time and haven't seen the LCD display that was as clear as the NEC CRT was. I know that I have to move on and get with the times so I ordered a 24" LCD from Newegg.

Score this round for inovation but I will never part with my IBM PS/2 101 Keyboard with the classic mechanical click ala the Selectric typewriters. (It does drive my wife crazy when I'm typing a lot while she is in the room.)

Computers come and go. My camera came with a memory card that had more memory than my first several computers combined. But there is something about displays and keyboards that I bond with and don't like to change. If the human interface isn't just so I don't care how fast a computer is I won't like it.

The Pinks All-Out isn't too bad but the regular Pinks sucks ass, IMO.

I take it youve never been to a taping. All out is a gong show 90% of the time, and friends of the host and crew are always in the final runnings.

Regular pinks is good, everyone that says there is a lot of whining, well yeah. Imagine if it was your car on the line.

Stan: Well, I thought I remembered you saying that you wanted to express yourself.
Joanna: Yeah. You know what, yeah, I do. I do want to express myself, okay. And I don't need 37 pieces of flair to do it. "

Anyone, anyone?

Young Aniston!

To stay on topic -- I have thought about doing red stripes on my white/red coupe. Something reminiscent of the old stinger hood stripe outlined and accented by two thin red or black pinstripes bordering it.

The short fitting with the angle face is the one that allows the longer fitting to screw in so far that it blocks the inlet hole coming from the block.

I ground the end of the longer fitting down so the hole was unobstructed, but I don't think it will tighten down well,,, I'll look at it more today.
