Post Clicky

When I sent this to Savewave he responded with something like "wow that's a lot to look into..."

I suppose it would be if he doesn't read the forums much.

I've never spent any time at CFOT. Someday when I'm ready to be banned, I may go over there and post something witty and sarcastic. But right now I must tend to my mullet.

Savewave doesn't care. Instead, he'll probably scold you for corroborating with another forum.

Anyone who compares which car is "faster" by reading HP numbers in a magazine has never been to the race track.

That post is indicative of the overall attitude of the CF towards any vette other than C5/6. I've repeatedly said that at the CF cruise in events the C4s were shunned by many members, laughed at even. The attitude has gotten worse more recently however. I understand the difference between good natured fun and ribbing at others expense but it has turned for the worse. Adam Boca does a wonderful job on the CI and deserves credit. He cannot control the attendees behavior however.
This is a major part of why I choose to attend these events now, if for no other reason than to continue to see old friends, make new ones and do my best to humiliate some of the snobs. I've had some success in that area.

Very bad, very very bad. No matter what forum its at, its a crying shame that Corvette owners have to bash other generations. I can take some heat about my C4 because I know and understand that its not the most desirable generation, but some of that dialog went overboard. A lot of it was personal and not even about the car itself.

All I have got to say is mine is paid for and I don't have $600 month payment. Funny thing is, most of these people probably owned a C4 when they were new and thought the same thing about the C3s. As long as they have the newest and best ride out there, everything else is obsolete.

Since I'm banned (again) I can't see the post. But from your descriptives, I can imaging what's happened.

A buddy of mine has payments in the $1200.00/month range on his jet stream blue Z06! But he's single, house is paid for and his retirrement in set up, so I can't blame him

Some of these knuckleheads have no sense though and would put themselves in the poor house to have the latest and greatest. Doens't make sense to me?

I love the new Z but the stock C6 is vanilla boring to me

Most of the folks I hang with won't snub the C4. People on the forums that do...oh well, childish mentality at best

I like all Corvettes. I'd buy a C6 if I could afford it, but I wouldn't trade my C4 in on it. My next one will likely be a C3. It is so very sad to see such dissention amongst the ranks. I don't ever bash other brands, hell I own a Dodge truck and a Dodge car, have had several Ford trucks and a few Mustangs. They can all be made respectable cars in the horsepower, speed, show, and any other quality. What is wrong with these people??

it is unfortunate that some people depend on the opinions of others to feel better about what they have or what they drive.... I drive a C4 and could care less what others think about it... other people cannot live my life neither should I allow them to have that kind of power in my life.... if they want me to drive a C5 or C6 then they need to purchase it for me... otherwise, it is a moot point...

My wife and I were planning to go the "Cruise In." I understand there are a lot more C5 and C6 owners there. We just wanted to meet some different corvette owners since we are new to it.

I can tell you one thing for sure. If someone is insulting to my wife or me I will embarrass them right back. Lo and behold if they are insulting to my wife. It could get real bad...

I occasionally get asked why Im not going to Bowling Green. most recent was from a member who a few weeks back took his 62 roadster to a track day that was rented my forum members- showed up with no top in 42 degree weather after a 2 hr drive. Nobody would acknowledge the guy at the track or in the track thread, either. So typical.

So, the idea of, driving 3000 miles to watch a bunch of snobby dorks jerk each other off and suck the mods' dick ? Got better things to do with my time.

Love the car, cant stand the crowd, seriously.

I agree. I like all cars, not just Corvettes. I like a well executed ricer. I like going to some of the cruise ins and seeing the different cars. Seeing an old Corvair is cool to me. Or an AMX, or at one show I saw a Pantera.

Now the kid with the Tempo... God Bless him, I guess he wanted to be part of things.

Yup. Car guy here too. I like all kinds of things. Porche 911, Shelby Cobra, Ferrari GTO, Ford GT40. I have a soft spot for '67-72 Chevy short wide bed pickups. Most muscle cars. Suicide door Lincolns...

But I wanted a C4 since they were first introduced. And I have always loved Corvettes.

When it came time to buy this latest toy, I really just wanted a car that was cheap, fast and somewhat reliable. Turned out the C4 was the car. The fact that it is a Corvette is a nice bonus. Or perhaps a curse, depending on how you look at it.

But people are people. There are probably Porsche forums, Ferrari forums and Lincoln Continental forums that pick on the undesirable model owners. There will be good guys and bad guys in any pack. Seems like mostly good'uns here. I am thankful for that.

I agree it's sad that people have to bash like that, but oh well. I have my car because I like it. I don't really care about what they think. Could I go get a C6? Sure. But I have other responsibilities in my life. I just laugh when the guy doing the bashing is some 20 year old guy with a c5 who thinks he's cool. And it's funny because he's living in his mom's basement spending all of his paycheck on his car payment. Good thing the internet isn't real life. That's why it doesn't bother me.

I get bashed on a fairly regular basis by the NCRS "correct" crowd. I've got the factory L-88 flares on my '69- right over the GM parts counter in '71- and none of them will accept that. I've still got the Chevy HP parts book that lists them, along with a bunch of part numbers for the parts from GM back in those days.

Exactly the reason I don't belong to a Corvette "Club"!
I do go to car shows, and try to make sure my Car holds it's own. But I bought it to drive, and the wife and I do plenty of that.

I also do the Power Tour every year. Now there is a crowd most of you would enjoy. They are true car guys.

Screw that having to have matching Corvette hats and shirts shit, and sitting around talking about the latest club fund raiser.

I just love the cars no matter what they are. I enjoy taking my FieroGT for a drive as much as i do the C4. I get ribbed all the time for my cars because i have such a mixture. I have the Fiero Gt, a 76 Vette, 93 Vette, and a 05 Mustang GT. love them all for what they are. Why bash people for their choices ?

I think Central Coaster said it best: Car Guy.

Everyone has a different motivation.
There are the car guys. A car guy isn't necessarily a good wrench, but he understands and appreciates what's involved. Most car guys wish they were good wrenches if they're not, (that's me). An old Camaro and a new C6 hold equal status with me, (and most car guys I'd imagine).
Then there are the waxers, that includes the NCRS crowd.
The racers, an interesting bunch.
And finally, the snobs. These guys are total a-holes. Most people wouldn't like them no matter what the setting. These are they guys they say the car makes up for other, ahem, shortcomings. Not all snobs are guys who scrapped to buy their C6. Some of them are legitimately well off. Doesn't matter, because there is no way you can be a happy soul if you have to put others down to validate yourself.

I think C4guru has a lot of car guys.

Never been much of a follower.

As I mentioned, I can't see the thread, but I think I understand the gest of the problem. The snobs are running the show

I drive what I like and like what I drive. If I were to get a C6, I'd get the base and mod it with the fenders/body kit. That would set the purist on thier ear but I don't care. I don't care how much power it makes, if I can't remove the damnend roof, I don't want it!

Tommy said it best...feck 'em

I love Vettes, but I also love Ferraris... and Maseratis, and wouldn't say no to a Aston Martin or one of those new Audi R8s... What about Porsche?

There are just too damned many snobs in this hobby trying to impose their will on our tastes. Screw them. Lets like what WE like. And if someone doesn't agree, embrace their opinion. Don't EVER snob on them. That only proves their point.

A friend of mine had a V6 manual Fiero when it was nearly new. That thing was a blast. I also drove a 4 banger one for a few weeks one time. While it could've used more power, it was still quite fun to drive on the twisty, hilly roads around here.

I'll admit it, I'm a closet Fiero lover. I'd love to pick up an 88 and do one of those V8 conversions. I'd also someday love to have a 68/69 El Camino, too...

Yup. I've heard those fieros with the 32v northstar conversion are screamers. Big engine + little car = fast

I've got a link saved somewhere of an LT1 conversion into a Fiero. If I can find it and if it still exists, I'll post it. It also has some excellent info re/ LT1s in general.

I go to Ot occasionally I guess I haven't seen any of the other gen bashing I guess if I did I would certainly say something.
Reading all the posts here and listing to you guys sniveling about it is as disturbing as hearing about dickheads bashing other cars.

I saw a bad ass Fiero a few years back...

Resized Image

It's called the IMSA Fiero. It's cool. It was white and yellow... the body kit was the same as in this photo, but this one was most certianly set up for racing. the one I saw was a pure street car with, I assume, a TPI of some sort - there was a TPI logo on the fender.

It had a wide body, deep rims... real nice...

The Northstar conversion is brilliant... 300hp DOHC V8, a fairly good A4, in a drive package that fits where the V6 did without adding a lot of weight.

I thought the Fiero had lots of potential. Pontiac has a way of messing things up.
