I'm considering doing this to the Spectator Team cars for another piece of flair.

"Joanna: You know what, Stan, if you want me to wear 37 pieces of flair, like your pretty boy over there, Brian, why don't you just make the minimum 37 pieces of flair?
Stan: Well, I thought I remembered you saying that you wanted to express yourself.
Joanna: Yeah. You know what, yeah, I do. I do want to express myself, okay. And I don't need 37 pieces of flair to do it. "

Anyone, anyone?

Btw, to remain on topic, I like regular gs stripes, and I think astock's look

Case,

Thanks for the explanation - No offense taken.
I do understand what you are saying, and I still would like to get the cable and software sometime down the road, because I do want to learn how to test and tune my own car.
It was just quicker and easier for me to have a reputable tuner get me in the ballpark on the initial tune.

Cheers -

So were it me, I'd opt for an HP laser all in one and forget about photo printing in house (using Kinkos or SAMS for photos when needed). Or maybe buy a dedicated photo printer if I really wanted one.

:withstupid]

I have to agree with the all in one color laser. I purchased a Brother MFC-9420CN on close out for under 5 with extra laser cartridges, extra paper (wow) and a full coverage, in home warranty
If you look around you can find some deals.

The only down side to a Brother over some of the other brands are the cartridges. They're stupid expensive

But the quality and function have been great and I work the piss out of this thing!!!

Approximately 500+ pages a day or two, depending on the week and probably quite a bit more color work than you do

Definately take a look.

Dragging bare skin on asphalt at 20 mph will leave a mark! Yeah, that show sucks. Full of whining.

Everyone I've talked to that watches the show says the same thing. So I wonder why they do it that way. All the modding shows are like that too... Boyd, monster garage, OCC, etc. Foose's show is pretty good though for not focusing on b.s. shop arguments.

I guess I don't fit their demographic of people that aren't actually watching tv for the cars.

MHO pretty much echos most of the comments already given.

As a computer network consultant, my clients have switched from inkjet all-in-ones to networkable lasers and a local inkjet for occasional color. If you price out the savings in ink vs toner you'll find your doing better with the laser and time to first page is reduced 75% or better. All-in-ones are picky and require lots of PC memory to run the background program.

Need a fax/copier? Buy a Brother. Laser printer? HP and inkjet? HP.
a good buy in scanners is the Canon lide series. Uses USB power ot run the bed and is lightweight. Small enough to pack in your briefcase.

Lots of good deals out there....

Are offset dowel pins available for locating heads on SBCs?

If so, a link or name will be appreciated.

Alternatively what remedial action is suggested for a block with a dowel
pin that appears to be slightly miss-located on one bank. I would like
to find some middle ground between using a large persuader and custom
offset machining a single dowel or drilling and bushing.

LD85, have you considered using internal hex socket plugs in the existing
holes and drilling/tapping new holes in the manifold?

Unless there is some kind of interference, my vote is that new holes
on the same two faces/flats of the hex of the manifold would be an
easy way to salvage the OEM pc.

Even at your wonderful prices that you quote, it still isn't that much cheaper and my time is more valuable than that.

Why did I get an initial tune? I'd like it to at least start-up and run ok before I have to drive it to the Dyno. Not even sure when I'll get it there at this point in time. Where did you get so much animosity toward PCMforLess?

Bottom line - who cares if it gets the job done that I want? I haven't done anything wrong here! Good Lord :banghead]
Youre taking what im saying the wrong way.

#1 ive got nothing at all to gain by telling you what i reckon, and everything to lose by giving you a bum steer, and #2, youre the one that will lose money on things you dont need, which is what im trying to prevent. If youre saying you dont care, well thats ok, i wont spend my time trying to help. You shouldve just said that in the first place and i wouldnt have wasted my time giving an honest opinion.

I have nothing against PCM4Less, just their work that i have seen is not something id be proud to put my name to, and ive seen alot of others that DO KNOW what they are talking about say the same thing.

If it was me, id have spent the money on the software and the cable, made the required changes, run it with Datamaster (which gives you 20 free logs anyway) then using that info as well as a list of your mods id have enlisted the help of someone that takes abit of pride in what they do to tune it for you.

I urge you to look at the ingredients on the container of paint cleaner, get
an MSDS sheet from the vendor and perhaps do a cursory search on-line.

If safety precautions such as ventilation and protective gear are recommended,
it is in your best interests (and those of your loved ones) to follow the
recommendations.

The biggest thing to figure out when buying a new printer is just how much usage is it going to get (n estimated images per month). Most printers will give a duty cycle per month in their spec's.

If you're a printing fool, then the inkjet models will prove to be more expensive in the long run. This also goes is the unit is an all-in-one and you receive a lot of faxes. The cartridges are small and really don't last that long.

If you're looking at a heavy usage, then the laser solution would be better. It'll cost you more in the front-end, but your per-image costs will be lower.

If you're looking at a lot of photo printing, then the inkjet is the better choice.

Other things to consider would be accessories for the printer. These would include something like an extra paper tray or a duplexing unit (assuming that you want to print double-sided).

Sometimes it's better to drop a bundle and get what fit's best rather than go for the cheaper solution. The way I view is is that cheap = disposable. Heavy usage on a cheap inkjet might mean replacing it every 2-3 years.

Buying a car from Finks just sounds like a bad idea.

Kinda like buying auto parts from a place we had around here several years ago.......

Stinger Sams.

They went out of business.

With a name like that, it's easy to see why.

All the same, its a pretty corvette.

I would take a very close look at the Konika-Minolta line of color laser printers.

We have the 2530DL color laser. It's awesome. They also have all-in-ones. The toner lasts about forever.

Inkjets are very expensive to operate. There are some color laser all in ones. Staples has some brothers and hp's listed starting around $599.00. It won't take you long to make up the difference in cost. If you need real high quality pictures, then I would take them to Walgreens or WalMart and have them printed.

I have a color Okidata at work. It is about 3-4 years old and it does a pretty nice job. Color pictures are not as nice as a photo inkjet, but it does a respectable job. I would say the newer ones are even better.

Just my 2¢ worth.

Thanks for the FSM deal. I just didnt want the bulb to be lit and staring at me all the time. I have some vulcanized electrical tape I am putting over the wire tomorrow.I am curious if the wire is twisted so it stays down.
See how this picture looks, as if the SIR wire is twisted to compensate for steering and movement.

It will take some time to settle, so you might have to make several adjustments to get the look you want. Get yourself a 4 wheel alignment when you're done.

Very nice shop. And that's a mean looking T-bucket as well. I love the traditional hot rods. I'm working on a channeled, fenderless Model A sedan myself. Totally traditional in my case. I may have gotten a line on a low-mileage, good running early Caddy engine today. Real hot rods rule!

You want the best grade possible. If you stay with the stock size of 14mm, you'll want metric grade 10.9. If you get a 9/16 bolt as a replacement, you'll want a grade 8. A 10" bolt will give you the capability for lowering it beyond anything you'll ever want on a street car. Get a pair of locking nuts to go with whichever bolts you use and you're done.

I'm gauging interest for a Vette cruise-in sometime this year within a reasonable radius of the Hickory NC area. There's a beautiful little town just 10 or so miles west of Hickory. It's scenic and historic Valdese NC. It just so happens that I work there too. And the hot rod shop I work at has a great re pore with the town leaders. There are also any number of great little local eateries close by. Anyhow, if there were sufficient interest from those fairly close to here, I'd be more than happy to help put something together.
A national Guru cruise-in would be great too and I hope it comes to be as well.. But only a small fraction of members could attend anything like that. Bogus has indicated an interest in regional gatherings and I concur. I think this year is a good time to start. And I hope each of the regional sections will be organizing a few of them very soon.

hey guys, i want to lower the rear of my car. the front is already lower than the rear, so i thought i could just swap in some longer bolts for the rear... i plan on just going to the hardware store to get the bolts, but what length and what grade should i get? i assume that i should just get some that are 1 inch longer than stock, but don't know what grade to get. thanks in advance,

chris

Pretty Cool, but it would be better with a clear lexan cover like the new ZR1

The opening should be about 1/3 smaller in the front

The AFPR won't hurt anything and can be a useful tool for fine-tuning. But it's not a cure-all for anything. I got one because my stocker was high-mileage. So since I was going to replace it, why not go with an AFPR? I have the Aeromotive and it's a fine piece and has been for many a mile now. That being said, I run it at stock pressure with 30# injectors in my 388.

Looking good! Overall it has that great, sinister look that I love.
