I did, and after I get home I'll try to get it into manageable sections to put up on either you tube or more likely Vettetube. See the other post.

Well, I did get the video....I haven't had time to get it into Photobucket yet....the camera is still in the rear well and I am not home yet to unload. As soon as I get it up somewhere, I'll let you know.

BTW, it was very informative. Paul documents every Corvette that he works on and that way has come up with some amazing statistics. But (hopefully), I'll let the video speak for him.

I'd highly recommend attending one (or more) of Paul's seminars. If I understood correctly, he'll be at FunFest in September.

Thanks Brad, a deal doesn't even come close to describing what I paid for them....it was actually closer to stealing them. I figure about 1/4 of the original asking price. MAM rocks. They get my vote.

Well guys, I have been MIA the last few days as my wife and I made a trip to Effingham, Ill, home of Mid America Motorworks. The trip included an extra "lightening of the wallet" that I was not planning....new seat covers for the Vette.

Just so happens that they were on the clearance rack, returned because they had the wrong color of stitching. I picked them up for....well lets just say I got them very reasonably. Had them installed and I simply love them.

What do you think?

Morning guys.....Wet t-shirt contest sounds good to me!!!!WE are in KC about ready to leave for MAM in about a half hour. Trip up was un-eventful, except for some sprinkles which messed up my nice clean car....but I found out that they don't melt when they get rained on.... Have a good day.

Morning Guys....I had to go to school and answer some questions about retirement, but that's all this morning. Sometime after lunch the wife and I are heading out for KC tonight and on to MAM tomorrow. Not sure I'll have time to log in so keep thing under control here.

Matt, any of those "specialty" stores get you, Bet you can find places on-line that you can save a few bucks. Pete, sounds as though you've made some headway, but there is a ways to go yet. I'd bet you're getting anxious about getting that one done. Bill, you in an area where those work, like anything they require some maintenance. Tommy, is just hacks me off that people do these things. Don, I hope you get the time to check out your boat...8 weeks without seeing it? Summer time is busy, hopefully you'll find the time to get started on the engine.

Morning guys Happy B-day to Matt and an early one for Pete. I'm an idiot....

I have a countertop to install today, so that's my plan. After that I am going to switch the car and Corvette around and start getting ready for the trip to Effingham, Ill.

Sorry for the quicky, got to go.

James Garner has always been one of my favorites. It's cool to see his old cars still at it after all these years.

I agree with Ron, a sawzall with the right blade will cut right through anything that you'll likely encounter.

I got to spend all morning at school doing VocEd paper work. What a bunch of crap. This afternoon, I'm waiting on a serviceman to look at our AC unit. The wife thinks it's not cooling like it ought to.

I'm sitting around waiting and watching the two younger grandsons. Not much else going on. Guess I'll work on another computer.

Well Tommy, after posting last night I found out that the activity for today has been moved to next Sunday (and I'm not going to be able to help out then as I will be in Effingham Illinois). So today is going to be a much more relaxed Sunday. Going to be hot here again, not a hot as yesterday, but hot none the less (low 90's).

Matt here in our little town that is not out of the ordinary, but then again, we are a farming community. Rick, I remember how much junk was built up in the radiator of my 94....simply amazing. Tommy, you're going to have to take it easy with your back, having back issues are no fun.

Hey guys, I was off and running early this morning with the garage sale. Actually got rid of most of the stuff. After cleaning up what was left, I decided to clean up the wife's car from her trip this past week to Wichita. She had bugs all over the front of the car. So I washed and then put a coat of Machine Super Wax on for her. While the wax was drying on her car, I dropped the Corvette down and gave it a coat of hand rubbed past wax too. So my arms are tired tonight. The weather was pretty nice throughout the morning, but the wind came up and it has been windy all the rest of the day.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday, I have a church mens group activity tomorrow, so I have to get up and ride 3 hours, do the activity, then ride three hours back home.

My 99 Silverado has 110K on it. I was thinking about upgrading to a newer one, but like you guys, there's nothing really wrong with mine, so I'm going to keep it, she's got lots of miles left in it.

Hey guys...it's Friday! I didn't make it in yesterday. I had a funeral to go to, the wife of the guy I replaced 31 years ago. Then I came home to work on getting stuff ready for the garage sale tomorrow. Took the two younger boys to see the magician, brought in by the local library. Came home and worked some more on the garage sale, then took boys to baseball games. Worked some more on the garage sale stuff, until about 11pm. It was a very busy day. It wasn't too bad weatherwise...today it's supposed to be in the upper 90's to near 100 and light breezes. It's going to be hot. I have more work to do for the garage sale, dang I hope we can get rid of most of this stuff.

Don, I hope everything turns out well for you tomorrow, I know that you have put lots of work into this show. Pete, my brother emailed me about going to the drags tonight (he has a H-D that he races, wish I could go but it just isn't in the cards this time.Matt, I sure hope that you can get your car running pretty soon, so you can start driving it.

Well, I better get going here. Have a great Friday.

You're going to have a much better day today going across Kansas than it would have been Tuesday...it was probably pretty hot when you pulled into Goodland. Keep safe.

Morning Gurus.....

I had a good laugh over that one Tommy. Don, look at the bright side, at least you don't have to work your tail off getting your car ready, one less thing to have to worry about for this show. Brad, glad to hear that the weather cooperated, and that you played decently. We didn't have Men's Night Monday because of Memorial Day, I'll hit it again next week.

Not much planned here for today, supposed to be a bit cooler today, low 80's compared to 97* yesterday.

I made it through the weekend, the daughter and boys are all moved out of the house and we got it cleaned up. Now this week I'm planning what needs to be sold at the garage sale this weekend. The wife leaves for a meeting in Wichita for a couple of days. Next week I am headed for Effingham, Ill for a Corvette gathering.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Gave $1800 for mine....I saved for a while to get it and still had to borrow $600 to buy it. My folks weren't too happy either, but like Bill's, they got over it. Wish I had mine back.

Ran across mine about 15 years after I sold it. They had painted it maroon with the torch red interior....it didn't look too good. Silver with the red was much better.

Not much planned here. Right now it's foggy and very cool for Late May, 56*.

I have a bunch of stuff in my shop from the daughters move. Her ex apparently didn't want any of his tools, as he was informed multiple times that he needed to get his stuff out. Well he didn't take too much, so I had to move all the big tools, table saw, 4"jointer, 13" portable planer, benchtop drill press, his weight bench and weights. Now I'm left with figuring out what to do with them. Thinking about a garage sale.

Everyone here have a great Memorial Day.

My next car was my 64 Coupe! Looks like we had very parallel lifes. Mine was a 4bbl model black buckets, floor shift, PS, PB, Factory AM/FM w/Factory reverb, Factory vinyl top, factory Magnesium 500 wheels. It was a Factory Executive car and my moms cousin was the first official owner, which is who I bought it from.

I watched that show, there was some mis-information and downright wrong statements made in the process. It was pretty interesting though.

When I was a senior I had a 64 Polara 500, a really nice car. 383 Magnum 727 and 3.23 gears. Wasn't hot at all compared to most of my friends. One had an LS6 Chevelle, another a Hemi GTX, another a 67 L71 Corvette, 440 Road Runners, GTO's, 383 Baracuda.

Thoughts and well wishes to your BIL, Tommy. Going to be a nice day here low 80's and breezy. I have a second trailer hooked up to the pickup and we'll go over to pick up the last of the middle daughters stuff. Youngest and her family will be going home today, but we are taking them to the zoo first. I'd like to get the Corvette out, but I don't think that's going to happen today.

Might try to check in on the Indy 500 later. Hope you all have a great day.

I've been busy today, the youngest daughter, husband and 2 kids got in last night about 12:30am. Went to bed and then we got up early 7am because the oldest daughter and three girls were going home today. Middle daughter spent the first night here as a regular. So it's been a busy place. The youngest says that she needs the oil changed in their car and that they couldn't do it because they rounded off the plug. So we take it up to school where I have to get a torch to heat up the plug to get the plug out. Looks like the last one to change the oil used Loctite on the threads....freaking idiots. I have a new plug and put it in....without Loctite. While there I go ahead and rotate the tires too. When we get home I decide to wash the car for them and break out the polisher and polish and then wax and vacuum it for them. It's been a long day.

Not sure if this is the place for it, but here's a story that my Dad wrote about one of his missions. (Written about 2 years before his death) Again his plane was shot up in this one.

Quote:
A WORLD WAR II MEMOIR BY ALBERT G. BACHMAN

The following story is about a single bombing mission during WW II while I was a member of the 95th Squadron--17th Bomb Group (Grandaddy of all bomb groups) of the 12th Air Force, and later the 1st Tactical Air Force of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF).

It was Aug. 15, 1944 and since over 56 years have passed since it happened, it is possible that a few pertinent details might be omitted or completely forgotten by yours truly, but I will try to recount the events
as they happened and as I remember them. I can only remember the name of one crew member, my pilot, Phil Eschbach.

I was a recent addition to the squadron, this being my third mission, and was a "strike" (bombing raid) against the Praduro, Italy road bridge involving a load of 500 pound bombs aboard a B-26 Martin Maurader medium bomber. We were stationed near Villecidro, Sardinia and had to fly across the Tyrahenian Sea and up through Italy to reach our target.

I was a 19 year old Staff Sargeant, a radio operator-gunner and was in charge of a special radio set called an IFF (Identification-Friend or Foe) transmitter which emitted a signal to other stations to let them know we were a friendly aircraft.. On the off chance of being caught behind enemy lines, it was my job to set off an internal charge before it fell into enemy hands. I was also entrusted with a musette bag which contained packets for each crew member containing maps of the area and a small amount of Italian money (Lira) which I was supposed to dole out to the individual crew members, if, by chance, we had to bail out after being shot down. The only trouble was that I was never told to pass these out or when to do it so the complete bag and its contents remained at my radio room. (More about these two objects later.) I never was instructed, even later on , on how to handle these packets.

Our crew for that mission included the pilot, Phil, a co-pilot, a bombardier-togglier (an enlisted man, who dropped the bombs on command from the leading aircraft bombardier) an engineer, a photographer (extra man), a tail gunner, and myself. We usually did not fly with a photographer, but had one on this mission. I spent most of my time, especially when in danger of being attacked by enemy aircraft, manning two hand-held 50 caliber machine guns, one on each side window of the waist ports of the plane. The photographer took his position with his camera in the aft bomb bay. We never carried bombs in this compartment but two large containers, which held the ammo for my waist guns, were stored there and were fed through channels to the waist position. The togglier had to have the co-pilot move his seat back before he could enter his position in the nose where the bomb release switches were located. Since it was a tight squeeze getting into the nose, he would remove his chest parachute and store it behind the co-pilot's seat. The engineer spent his time in the top turret and the tail gunner was in the tail.

We flew from Sardinia to near the target without any incident, but when we began to make the bombing run we ran into a great deal of anti-aircraft fire (flak). We had just dropped our bomb load and the pilot had banked hard to the right with the remark "Let's get out of here" when a shell burst right below us. A piece of the shrapnel cut through the main gas line (about an inch or so in diameter) on the lower engine, it stopped almost immediately and we dropped 3000 to 4000 feet, like "right now". The bomb bay doors were still open and by the time the pilot had somewhat righted the plane, all of us in the back of the plane were sprayed with 100 octane aviation fuel from the break in the line and carried by the wind gushing from the bomb bay doors back through the plane. The pilot immediately went on the intercom to let us know what he was trying to do and asked me to get the photographer out of the aft bomb bay since he was without an intercom. At about the same time, I heard the bombardier tell the co-pilot to move his seat back since he was getting out of the nose. He had made a remark before the mission that he would never go down with a B-26. I looked up through the aisle toward the front just in time to see him crawl out of the nose, grab and hook on his parachute and without ever gaining his feet, he dove out through the open bomb bay doors. Before I could get around the bulkhead to the aft bomb bay to get the photographer, he had seen the bombardier bail out and evidently thought we were all leaving and bailed out also. Both were taken prisoners by the Germans and spent the rest of the war as POWs.
The bombardier was later court-martialed (in absentia) for disobeying the pilot and bailing out.

The pilot was having a rough time holding the B-26 in the air on the one engine (it flew like a rock) so he told the crew to lighten the ship of everything we could. I tried to lift my machine guns out of their swivel mounts but one got caught and the engineer and I had to lift on either end to cast them out. The other soon followed. Without thinking about it, flak suits and every other loose thing was thrown out, including the musette bag with the maps and money. I then went to the aft bomb bay where the IFF followed out the window without me blowing it up. Thank Goodness!! For 100 octane gas and fumes were everywhere and would have exploded with any spark. The IFF probably exploded on impact with the ground and some Italian probably got rich when he found the bag with the maps and money!!

Next on my schedule of lightening up the plane was the 50-caliber ammo, which was stored in the large metal boxes, attached to the fuselage of the plane itself and which were fed from the aft bombay to the waist
section on tracks riveted to the side of the plane. Since I could not get the boxes loose, I ripped the track loose by pulling the rivets out of the side of the plane. Then I began pulling the shells out of the track. I would pull and pull and when I let up, the shells would go back in the other direction. After doing this three or four times, I looked around the bulkhead only to find the tail gunner pulling against me. We took the escape hatchet (used to cut your way out of the plane in emergencies) and chopped everything we could out of the plane--radio sets
and other equipment. By this time I had had plenty of time to look out into nothing and wasn't at all happy about the prospect of bailing out. We were still losing altitude at a rapid rate but were flying down a valley, which had a fairly large river flowing through it. Finally the pilot told us that if we lost another 400 feet of altitude we were free to bail out, but that he was going to try to set it down on the river. The rest of the crew put their chutes on--luckily we had not thrown them out--and I unbuckled mine and buckled myself into the co-pilot's seat. Just then the pilot spotted a fairly level, but short, open field dead ahead. Once again chutes came off and we all buckled into our seats.

When we hit the ground, one tire had blown out, and we rumbled along the field throwing dust everywhere. The plane finally came to a stop a few feet short of a fairly deep ditch. But I didn't know about this until later, for a soon as had touched down, I had popped open the top escape hatch, pulled myself up and out and was running down and jumping off the wing by the time the plane had stopped. I was sure the plane would explode and burn up and we would be killed because we were soaked with the gas. When I hit the ground, I kept running until I was so tired I could not run anymore and slowed down to a slow walk. I was shaking like a leaf and thought to myself "Am I the only one like this?" I looked over to my left and my pilot had finally caught up with me and he was quivering as much, or more than I was.!!

We had crash landed about eight miles on the British side of the front lines and were invited up to have tea while we waited for transportation back to our base camp in Sardinia. The other planes had returned to the base and had reported that only two chutes had come out and so we were reported as probably killed in action.

That morning, before the mission, we had been given our weekly rations (beer, candy bars, cigarettes, tooth paste, etc) and I had dumped them on my cot. When I finally got back to my tent late that night, I found in my corner of the tent (there were four of us living there) only a bare army cot. My blanket, rations, clothes, etc were all gone. My buddies had divided up all of my belongings, having heard that I had been shot down. This was a common thing to do at that time, since the supply sargeant usually ended with downed airman's personal equipment if their buddies did not get there first. Nevertheless, I was so mad that I went down to the mess hall where my tent buddies were eating and invited each of them outside for a fight. They just laughed at me and later returned my stuff.

Ron, my dad was the same way. Never talked much about his experiences in Italy, Northern Africa and Europe, he flew in B26 Mauraders. Late in his life I found out that he was shot down over German held northern Italy, and only he and one other survived. Took them both 4 days to work their way back to allied lines. Just one story that he finally would talk about. Always kept tight lipped, finally, after making several trips to his bomber group reunions did he begin to let us know what he'd gone through, and downplayed it all.

Morning guys, it's been a pretty long morning. A little paper work, then putting a coat of polyurethane on the benchtops. The weather is nearly hot and the wind is supposed to blow this afternoon. As soon as I check out I can leave, I'll hook up a trailer and head over to start packing up the daughter/grandsons to move her/them over with us. She is to be out of the house by Monday.

I need to make sure that we get our flag out too. Tommy, you are right keeping those inspectors happy goes a long ways. Matt, hopefully the little one will start feeling better soon.

Talk to you guys later.

I would have to agree with Tommy, they learn that someplace and hold it over you all the time. I usually just go ahead and do what I want anyway.

Last day of school today for the kids. No actual classes going on, just a fun day. I'll be glad for the day to be over.

Morning guys. We are on the final rounds of sweeping the floors. The kids that are left are actually pretty focused, considering.

Tommy, travel sounds kind of nice, but it does get old....and as you say expensive. Brad, not sure I'd be excited about going to Manila.... Only places I'm planning on going this summer is to Effingham, Ill, to visit Mid-America Motorworks and then out to our timeshare in Colorado. That's enough traveling for me. I don't consider the trips to KC to see the grandkids travel, even though it's 6+ hours.

Hope you have a great day.

Good morning guys. Spending money on things that you like is fun and makes me happy. So, I'm with you, Matt. Finishing up the cleanup of the shop today and tomorrow, Thursday we will just chill out.

I dislike winter as well. Normally our winter here aren't too bad, but this year was not a good. I'll live with it though as you guys up north have it much worse. Now severe storms are another deal. I was right yesterday, in saying it was primed for storms. Severe weather west of us (20 miles) Tornado's east (15-40 miles). Today seems to be better. The air isn't quite so juicy.

Two more days for the kids and I'll be finished up Friday.

Hope you all have a great day!

Morning Gurus...it is warm and muggy this morning, something we are NOT use to. Feels like a recipe for some storms this afternoon.

I've got kids cleaning the shop, doing paper work for VE funding and taking final tests today. I get a phone call from the state education dept wanting to know what we are going to do with VE funding next year...well, I was going to leave that for the next guy to figure out, but I screwed that all up by coming back, so I guess I'll have to work on the dam* paperwork for that.

Matt, take your time. It has been a while since it was running anyway, another few days isn't going to make that much difference and you might eliminate some errors along the way.

Have a great day guys.

Thanks for the pictures. I know what you mean, but out here even stock Corvettes are something a bit rare.

Bill, your weather is even more strange than ours in Kansas.

DB, Hospice is a God-send.

Good morning, it's a beautiful morning here. Cool and a very light breeze. Looking to go to 90* again today. Nothing special planned today. I think that I might do a little cleaning on the Corvette.

Those turned out pretty nice VB. Well, the nice day went away pretty fast. It's 91* now and the wind is blowing about 40mph. Electricity has been going off and on now for the last hour. The class has graduated and I've hit the parties I intended...ate too much. I think I'll just veg this evening.

Morning guys....We have some friends coming in this morning for HS graduation this afternoon. So I am going golfing with him, while the wife stays and entertains the lady. Then we will go get a bite before heading off to graduation. I get to march in with the rest of the faculty before the grads and then march out after.

Weather right now is absolutely beautiful. 55* already and a very light breeze. But as Kansas is known the wind is to pick up this afternoon and blow like a banshee.

Better get going so I'm ready when they get here. You guys have a great day.

Good morning Gurus.....

It sounds as though many are already at it. Never put headers on a Corvette, but I can imagine that it could be frustrating. Keep plugging away at it, you'll get it, Matt. Don, if I still had the puller I'd send it back to you, I think you're going to need it again....sometime. Mike glad to hear you're finally going to get re-united, that could not have been an easy thing for either of you. As far as Tesla....well I guess it's all about MONEY.

Well, it's going to be a slim day here. Seniors are done (grad is tomorrow). Regional track meet today, 6 hour drive from here, so the tracksters are already gone. So that means that I have this period free. Liable to be a slow day. Supposed to be in the 80's today, but the wind is going to blow....20-40mph and gusts higher....just another Kansas spring day.

Everyone have a good Friday.

Well the wife and I did some of that last week. Took 3 BIG trash bags of clothing to "Good Will" I hauled a bunch of old computer parts out to the dumpster and a bunch more crap out of the back room. Some stuff I put up on Craigslist, if no one takes me up on it I'm hauling it to the dump. I need to go through my shop and get rid of a bunch of scraps, pieces big enough to use....but never do. I suppose I should go through the garage as well, could probably find stuff there that needs to go.

I totally agree with you Tommy. Too many people are OK with just standing by and letting things happen. The 90% that are good should be able to take care of the 10% who aren't. But then again our society has made it hard to help out. People suing each other. What should happen is that punk should have had his a$$ kicked as a youngster...but then today they call it child abuse.

Morning, been working on the Senior panel. This panel has all the seniors pictures on it. In the past they just took their senior pictures and mounted them to mat board, this year I suggested that they photoshop all the pictures into one print and I would print them on my large format printer. After three tries I got the colors right. It looks really good and I saved them a bunch of time.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAA that make my head hurt Fluff. another dreary day today. We had good rain last night. But my allergies turned into full blown sinus infection. I am helping to sponsor a youth party through the church tonight, my grandson will be attending, so no big deal.

Ron, I know what you mean, my computers last about 3 years out here, whereas the rest of the computers throughout the district get replaced every 6-7. People (other teachers) are always complaining that I get new computers more often....well yea out of necessity. For the reasons you mention and the fact that in order to keep up with the latest CAD software, it requires newer technology and faster computers.

Don, that can happen so fast....glad no one was injured.

Hey guys! Must be Tuesday....the idiots are rampant. I get the "can you build me a ...... (fill in the blank)" all the time. Usually I say, "Sure I'll put your name on my list and when I get time I'll get with you to figure out how much it will cost." I don't work for nothing and the kids usually keep busy on their own projects.

Cloudy and dreary here today with a chance of rain off and on for the next three days. My sinuses have been draining the last few days too, I may have to break out the neti-pot myself.

Tommy, I probably should go to the dr. myself, but I really don't like being talked to like a kid, mainly because I know they're right....

Bill that Sept thing looks like a lot of fun, however it would have to be my uncle as my dad passed away 6 years ago. My uncle would probably love it though, after the war he had his pilots license and built a couple of different airplanes. My dad on the other hand never got into another airplane again...hated flying.

Hey Bill, is that your picture of the B-26? If so, where did you take that? My Uncle Bill (lives in Pahrump, NV) 88 years old, was a Navigator and flew with my Dad (that's how Dad met Mom), would probably like to see that.

Not a B26, they had a more pointed nose....that's what my dad flew 74 missions in (IIRC), during WW2, side gunner/radioman.

Now that I look at it again it does kind of look like a 26 from the back of the nose cone back, but 26's had the wings mounted way up on top and they were much more cigar shaped see Bill's picture. This one is flatter on top, similar to the 25's and the nose looks more like a 25. 25's had twin tails though.

The humor can't be beat.

Morning gurus...Man everyone is busy. Matt, I'd bet those are allergies. Crash, they get you around very quickly after those replacements any more. Don, that is one thing I really miss about my 94, the seats in the 01 just aren't as comfortable, but overall, I'm glad I moved to the C5. Tommy those orchids are beautiful, doubt they'd grow here in the high plains though. Pete, I'm not sure how you do it. I don't think that I could travel like that. Ron you are right, the seniors are finished....only 3 more days for them and 8 for everyone else.

Weather is acceptable today, mostly cloudy and highs in the lower 70's. Mens night tonight, so I'll go out and have a good time golfing.

Something tells me that one in the B25 isn't in the service. On second look, that's not a B25....any idea what that plane is?

Funny no matter what.

Morning guys, it sounds like several of you could have been at my next door neighbors last night. They went on until after three. I don't have much planned today, I will go over to the daughters house later and help her get some things together and do some repairs on to the house so maybe she'll get some of her deposit back.

I think I'll sit down here and work on converting some more of my LPs to MP3s, I've got quite a few yet. But it's kind of cool sitting and listening to the old tunes on the record player.
