I liked #1 as well. One of the big features is the high ceiling in the garage...room enough for a lift.

Good morning. Got home yesterday after a few stops, unloaded then, washed the car. The house was in OK shape, no water in the basement and the house was still standing (13 yo grandson on his own through most of the day).

Tommy you're right, time is running short for us teachers. We own a time share in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. A couple years back using it interfered with the start of school so we banked it. We have been trying all summer to try and use that week, to no avail. We have given our daughter this years week thinking we were going to get to use the banked one. Well, it just isn't going to happen. So our daughter says they're not going to stay the whole week, so we are going to tag-team the week out in Pagosa. They are leaving mid-week, so the wife and I will use the second half. It's only a 5 hour drive...through the mountains, so it's works out well for us. We are taking the Corvette, so it will make it that much better.

Don, try taking the HDD out and put it in the freezer for 30 minutes or so, then stick it back in and try to recover your data. Works more often than not. But you only have a little time to get it, as it warms up it will quit again.

Morning guys.....I.m glad we don't have to worry about those, mice are bad enough.

I got news yesterday that my cousin passed away from a heart attack, he was 65. Sad, his parents are still alive and they will have to bury their son, I bet they never thought that would happen.

We are headed home after while, it's been a good visit, but we are ready to be back home.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Morning Guys. I'm up and at it this morning. My daughter and her family are gone for the day. We are headed over to watch the other grandkids today.

Brad, I bought a Taylormade R9 driver yesterday. I can't wait to get home and try it. I used a buddies last week and love the way it hit. They had them on sale here in KC, so I bought one.

We will head home tomorrow. Apparently we had quite a rain back home, someone posted pictures on Facebook, the water filling up the streets, I hope we didn't get water in the basement.

Sorry Ron, You've made me laugh...I know it's not right to laugh at someones else's expense, but couldn't help it. I took the boys (9 and 5)to the Royals games and they loved it. And the Royals won! Go Royals!

Morning gurus. We are off to church this morning and then I'm taking the two grandsons to a Royals game. They've been on a skid here recently, but have turned it around the last two games. That's about it for me today.

My August calendar is starting to fill up...particularly at the end.

You're right, that one looks very much like my old 500. Mine was silver with a black vinyl top.....

BTW, I like all the cars you've had......

Nothing much for mew today. Watched the oldest granddaughter swim in a big meet yesterday...and will again today, later. Other than that, I have no plans. Been rainy since we got here, hope we are getting some of this at home, but I don't think we are.

Pete, the traveling sounds interesting, until you do it so much you don't have time to enjoy anything else. Matt I don't envy you at all. Tommy, that the type of running around I could do.

Hope you have a great day guys.

Good morning gurus.....We made the 6 1/2 hour drive to KC last evening. The wife got off a little early (3:30) and we were on the road by 3:45 (with the two youngest grandsons in tow). Got here a little after 10.

Matt, that sounds like a really nice top, was it a reasonable price? Rick, Happy Birthday! Washing cars is a hot ordeal, Tommy. Cut I could do it all day, if I had that kind of time. Brad, road force balancing makes a world of difference, Around here, we don't have many people who have them, but one place here in town, does and they don't charge any extra to balance that way.

Not much planned here today, enjoy the grandkids.

DJMotorsports also called Corvette Motorsports. They make the covers that Ecklers, Midamerica and about everyone else sells, but by going direct I saved a ton of money.

Tommy - rich is right. He has spent a lot of coin on this car while he is in Iraq. ZR1 wheels, the seats, powder coating, intake, exhaust, dyno tune, and the list goes on.
He is about done now as far as I know. On the good side he got a very good deal when he bought it and can afford the mods and still put money in the bank every month.

They don't make Mid-America Motorworks covers.....they have their own manufacturing plant right there on their campus. That's where I got mine last month and I toured the manufacturing plant.

BTW, those look really good! Me likey.

No crawling around on a roof for me today......I've got some work in the shop to do and I need to go hang a couple of fans for a neighbor. After the wife gets off work today we are headed for a long weekend in KC visiting the two daughters there and their families.

That's a great color combo! But plenty high.

Happy Birthday, early, Don! Hell 50 is nothing.

My ass is dragging good tonight, they don't need me tomorrow, we got all the trusses set, all they have to do is set the corners (hip roof) and the flunkies can do that because they can do it from ladders.

No problem for me today, looking for something to do....I was on top of a house at 7am. We got quite a few trusses installed this morning. I'm hoping that we can get the rest of them up this afternoon.

Honey do list...nah, I just try to do what I can when I can.

Hey guys, I ran by the place where my advanced drafting class had drawn up plans for a remodel, just to see how it was moving along. I stopped and they were setting trusses. The contractor (actually he's a self employed carpenter and former student) has about 1 guy with any experience (another former student) and 4 with little or no experience helping him (two of them are former students). So I jumped in to help him. He says, "No Tom, you don't have to help, we've got it." But I could tell he really could use the help, of someone who knew what was going on. So I told him I would come back this afternoon and help them set trusses. So this afternoon, I've worked my butt off...I really enjoyed the work and I'm going back to help them tomorrow, try to finish setting the trusses. He was very appreciative.

In Kansas, I have to be off 60 days. With my June 1 retirement date I'm good to go August 1 and we start school August 25.

Not much here today. Uhmmmmm, fresh peaches sound good, Matt. We had our Men's night, last night, didn't win anything but I made better contact with the ball than I have all summer. I can't believe that August is almost here, school will be starting soon and I'm not ready for that.

I did get my contract the other day, and it was for more than I was expecting. So I went in to ask about what my take home was going to look like, and surprisingly, it's not that much less than last year. (considering, in order to continue teaching after retiring, I take a 20% hit on my contract) I should be getting my second retirement check on Friday. So with the retirement benefit and my regular check, I'll be doing pretty good. I have been pumping a pretty good chunk into an annuity the last several years and will continue to do so with my school checks and try to live off of my retirement. We still have a couple of years before the house is paid off, then we will be in pretty good shape. The retirement benefit is subject to Fed taxes but no State, so that works out pretty well.

Morning guys, very philosophical Tommy. Well maybe mine started yesterday, as I did absolutely nothing. Watched TV most of the day. First the Royals (who got beat mercilessly by the Yankees) and then later on I watch the Mile-High Nationals. In between I polished the wheels on the Corvette.

Have a good day.

Nothing here for me today. Yesterday, I let the Corvette down and clay barred it and waxed it, again. We had some rain off and on all day, but it was reasonably cool. Today is supposed to be similar. I hauled a bunch of stuff to storage shed.

This morning the wife is fixing a big breakfast, it smells good. I'm sitting here watching "The PowerBlock" and checking out the internet.

Morning, it's been a nice night. We were able to open the house up last night. We've had showers the last two nights. It's supposed to be warm today, but not as warm as the last few days.

Went out last night to help with the free BBQ, served over 600 in less than an hour. Very well arraigned by the caterer. There was one guy cutting up the brisket two handling the plates and putting the potatoes on (my job), two putting on green beans and a roll. Now there were a few people (5 additional) back "feeding" us with refills of the potatoes, green beans, rolls and brisket, but it was well organized and tasted delicious.

Not much planned today. a fireworks display this evening.

Morning Gurus.....Tommy, I certainly hope that the misses figures out what's causing the hives.....how miserable. Matt, it amazes me that people actually pay to punish themselves, my daughter does it all the time. Don, Hope you have a chance to do a little work on the Corvette and that your knee continues to heal. Brad, gee, it tough but someone's got to do it....right? Two day work weeks are killers.

I've got a little on the plate today. Work on a couple of computers. Move some more stuff over to the storage unit. And help out at the free BBQ this evening ending the county fair.

I hope that everyone has a HCF.

Morning.....Matt, my oldest daughter has done several marathons, half marathons, half ironman, and a couple of those obstacle runs. She just got back from doing one at some military camp in California. She works out all the time and it seems like she was going up to Chicago for one here in the near future....IIRC. Good luck with the training. Brad how serious are you about that C6? They really are nice cars.

Going to be hot again today. County fair is going on here. The wife and I went out last night to look things over. The barnyard Olympics was fun to watch. They had teams doing funny things....barnyard related....sort of. It was pretty humorous.

Nothing planned here today, about like yesterday. I was bored enough yesterday that I clay barred and waxed my pickup and buffed a few scratches out, it looks good.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Not much planed here, today. Got a lady coming over this afternoon to talk about some cabinets, but that's it. Water heaters just suck when they act like that...I'd heard that they build them to last about 8 years anymore...mine's 7 so I would guess that it's just a matter of time now.

Going to be hot again today. Everyone stay cool.

Sounds like lots of stuff going on. I installed the bookcase that I built this morning, just have to go back and trim out a bit. It's hot here again...100's predicted all week.

Well, I spent most of yesterday at the local car show...it was a not a good turnout, I'm guessing because it was so hot. We did have a couple of pretty neat cars an 18K mile Camaro SS 1997, and a Pro street 71 Chevelle SS. I didn't win anything...never expected to, but I had a good time letting some kids sit in the Corvette drivers seat. That huge grin is well worth the extra cleaning up of sticky finer prints on the door panels.

Not much for me today. Clean the shop some and get ready to install a cabinet tomorrow.

Well from when I started typing until I get it posted Tommy has posted...Tommy you are right, enjoy them while you can. My mom and dad, both would have been 85 this year. Lost dad 6 years ago and mom almost 4 (next month). I miss them both. And now it is uncommon for my two brothers and my sister to get together. Little brother tries each year, but older brother and sister have 'issues' with each other and don't really make much effort to work things out.

Have a good day. HBD Tommy.

Hey Bill, starting things off a bit early? I couldn't sleep last night, was up for over an hour at around 3. As hot as it was , maybe the guy had heat sickness ???? I would love to come out and take some lessons someday...not that I want to get into racing necessarily, but because I'd like to learn more about handling these cars.

I'm going to take the Corvette up to where the car show is being held today, here pretty soon. Not that it starts soon, but because of the high temps that are predicted, I want to choose where I park. That's all I have planned for today.

I love HF. I just pick and choose the tools that come from there. I've had no complaints about the Pittsburgh sockets and wrenches.

I have abused Pittsburgh sockets with breaker bars and impact tools. HF replaces them no questions asked. On one occassion they replaced the whole set because of one cracked socket.
I noticed their composite rachet wrenches @ 6.99 for a 3/8 drive looks alot like the Snapon one for mega bucks.

I considered buying those, they looked pretty good.

Hey guys, this morning I rode in a pickup in our local parade, which kicks off our county fair this week. When I got home. the gal that my wife works with had brought her Toyota over that someone had opened a door onto and marked up the side in about 5 places. My wife told her I "...could probably take those out". So I worked on buffing out the door dings. I did get them out, BTW. I also washed it up for her. Took me about 3 hours, when I took it back she says "Oh Tom, it looks so good, let me pay you." I said, "I don't have a clue as to how much." So she goes in and brings me a check for $100, I said you don't have to give me that much..."That's about what Skeeters (a body shop that she takes it to to be detailed) would have charged me." I took the money. After I got home I primped up the Corvette, as our local Lions Club has their show tomorrow.

It's been really hot today, showing 104 right now, and looks the same for most of the week. Maybe I'll just rest this afternoon.

Earlier this year, on one of my KC trips, my daughter said that her car (Olds Alero) sounded funny. After driving it, I figured it was the front wheel bearing. I had few tools there, so in order to fix it I went to the parts store to pick up the parts. I find it needs a 35mm socket to take the nut off. The parts store has the single 1/2" drive socket for $25....I told my SIL "Lets go to HF", at HF I buy a complete 3/4" set for $49. Was a no brainer. I have been very happy with my Pittsburg wrenches.

Tools....ahhhhh what a wonderful subject. I'm spending my kids inheritance on tools. I buy lots of tools...mostly for the shop (woodworking side). I have found that having the right tools saves me time...and everyone knows, Time is money. I have some tools in the shop (both wood and auto) that have never been used. I have some that have been used once or twice. I have some that I bought thinking "I might need that some day" and then was damn glad that I had it on that day. My wife doesn't say much, it helps that I can use them as business deductions.

Now on the HF. I buy quite a few tools from HF. Yes I know that the quality maybe isn't what "Made in the USA" tools are, but most of the tools I buy from HF are my auto mech tools, and I don't use them day in and day out, so they are quite suitable for that type of use. If I was a professional mechanic, depending on those tools for my livelihood, I'd probably buy higher quality tools. I have one of those aluminum jacks, it has worked flawlessly for me for 5 years now. Do I use it everyday? No. Would it still work flawlessly if I did? Who knows, maybe, maybe not. But for $59, who cares? Sears and nearly everyone else has been forced to start doing business in China. The quality of tools coming out of there has improved dramatically in the past 20 years. Lifetime warranty on many tools that you buy there.

I have a 20" planer that I bought from Grizzly tools. Heavy 800 lbs, powerful 3 hp, to buy an American made tool of equal capacity, I would have had to pay 5 times what I paid for that one. I can say that it is one tough tool.

So back on track, yes I have bought tools that I didn't have an immediate use for, and I'm glad that I did/do.

Morning guys....I guess it's afternoon now. Been out in the shop. It's going to get hot today...already 92. No rain in sight for the next 2 weeks, might be a miserable two weeks.

Don, I'm glad that you are getting on so well...whatever it takes. Pete, leaks are the pits. Hope you can get it fixed without too much trouble. Bill 102 at the track is still more fun than 102 working outside.

Morning....Matt it sounds like you had a nice little drive. We don't have any roads around here like that. First off western Kansas doesn't have that many trees, and secondly, we are flat enough that twisties are necessary. Good luck today with your mom, Don...er, I mean with surgery. Tommy have a safe trip.

I am hanging the last door today at those people's house. Then I need to get home and finish up a cabinet. That about it for me today. Going to be a little cooler today, then the heat is on for an extended period...it's July in western Kansas.

Very neat. I like the old 50's Chevy/Pontiac business coupe next to that 68/69 vette. Oh, and I really like your 92 as well! Sharp color.

They keep telling me I need to go in and have my knee worked on...but I keep holding out. I'll be interested in hearing/seeing how well you get along, Don.

Morning guys..up late last night and up early this morning. I got some finish sprayed yesterday and got some of the daughters stuff moved to a storage unit. When we had to move her at the end of May, there was not a storage unit available anywhere, now within the last week we have had 5 opportunities. We latched onto one.

Today, more spraying, watching the grandsons, and maybe delivering a computer. It's #2 grandsons birthday, we kind of celebrated last night, because grandma has to leave this morning for meetings in Wichita.

Hope you have a great day. Don't fret Tommy, everyone will have a great time at your party. Sounds like your wife listens to you about like mine....why bother asking, you're going to do what you want anyway.
