Hopefully we can get this stickied.

I tried this on another site with great results. I would of tried it on CF, but there's just too many people and too much BS to pull it off. On here though, it should work.

All right, I feel a certain amount of camaraderie for all of us who tread the waters here at www.c4guru.com. In that spirit, I suggest 'the hook up list.' It's a list of members and the things they can help other members out with. The list doesn't have to be car related. I love cars, and devote a ton of time and money to the hobby, but I still find myself in need of other things; beer, food, appliances, cell phones, hookers, etc...

It goes like this:

My name is Josh. I live in Raleigh, NC. I have a 2 car garage, a decent compliment of tools, and an extra bedroom. If anyone finds themselves in need of repair or a place to crash, let me know. I don't have any problem coming and getting you off the freeway at 2 AM Friday night, wrenching till dawn in my garage, all so you can go race on Saturday.

I work for Pepboys as a service manager. I can't do much with the shop, but I can get pretty good deals on some things. I have a pretty good hook up on KYB shocks, and I can do some pretty cool stuff with the alignment machine for $60 or so. I also can get some pretty good deals on tires, but you'll have to come to the store for that.

That's my contribution. The next poster will do theirs, and we're off and running.

THE LIST BY STATE:

California, Chatsworth - cuisinartvette - Im in the San Fernando valley, about 15-20 minutes northwest of UCLA - Im a licensed pool contractor, can get a good hookup on plaster, tile, mosaics, pool equiptment, etc... - More info in profile - Have a killer hookup on a first class machinist - Anyone that knows me will attest that Im always good for a meal and a place to crash if you're passing through or wanna cheap out on a hotel so you can spend more on hot dogs the next day at the track. No luxury service but the food hasnt killed Central Coaster yet and the heater works - PM me on here and/or check my profile for more contact information -

California, San Diego - Central Coaster - single car garage but lots of tools - good at locating hard to find part numbers and good prices on auto parts - I do consulting engineering for Mechanical, Heating/Air Conditioning, and building plumbing systems - pretty good with the building codes, so some of you Californians may find that useful if you need some design work done to get city approval and building permits - also do home improvement - PM me on here for more contact information -

California, Torrance - Bogus - I think his real name is Andy - Near LAX. So we are close to several freeways - If you have something break, I am not immune to bailing folks out - Be warned, we have no space to put people up over night - I am a software engineer/project leader - I have done just about everything in IT you can think of... PC repair, network admin, , I was even a certified HP Laser printer specialist at one point - Lots of tools - I can also build just about anything. If it needs assembled, call. Grills, sheds, Ikea furniture... I am a huge (but poor) audiophile and can offer advise on technologies and brands and help with installation - home improvements... minor electrical all the way up to major bathroom remodeling! Plumbing is easy, yo. Same with drywall and painting - PM me on here for more contact information -

Florida, Palm Beach Gardens - Tobijohn - Any questions about your in-ground swimming pool or you want to know which way the dollar looks to be going against the other major currencies, I can venture an informed opinion - I was in IT for a decade or so (PC repair, system configuration and integration, systems admin) but have been out of it for about five years. However, if you're having problems, I'll try to give a hand - PM or E-mail from here for more contact information -

North Carolina, Raleigh - Josh Kinzey - tools, garage, spare room, and works for Pepboys - joshkinzey@gmail.com - If you'll be in the area, E-mail me and I'll shoot you my number.

Ohio, Cuyahoga Falls - DaleD - I have is the ability to help if you need it. I may not know the C4, but what I am good at is taking what I know, and applying it to a given situation - I work in IT. I'm a database administrator - I have built pcs in the past, so I can still mess with them, but I'm not an expert - If you need a hand, or another pair of eyes, I can help - f you have computer questitons, if I don't know the answer, I can find it. If you want to know about Oracle databases, or Lawson ERP packages, I'm your guy! - PM on here for more contact info -

Oregon, Portland - Mike - captmike13 - I don't have a place really to work cars, I have a car port, but I am willing to help anyone out if I can - PM on here for more contact information -

Pennsylvania, Tyrone - dan0617 - I don't have a garage, but I am thrifty. I've put large rubber tires on an engine hoist once so I could change an engine outside in a stone driveway in the winter - I work 7am till 7pm in the summer as a superintendent on large highway projects. In the winter my schedule is slow so I have time to tinker or help others - My best quality is my memory, I can read something and usually remember it years later, which helps when a forum member asks a question. If I have read about someone having a similar problem I can usually remember the solution - If there are parts I have that someone can try for a diagnosis I'll gladly ship it out for you to try and ship it back when you are done - I'm also pretty good at knowing who is full of it and who is giving good advice - I have helped many friends do such things as emergency roofing jobs, digging up broken water lines, etc. and actually enjoy helping with things like that - PM me on here for more contact information -

Virginia, Winchester - Steve85 - I used to be Chevy tech, still have all my tools and 1 1/2 car garage to do just about anything - I am pretty close to a few interstates in the northwestern VA area (81, 66, and 70)and have a trailer if things are really bad - Also, if anyone is going to Summit Point for a track day and need to do some major work over the weekend I'm only 30minutes from there - PM on here for more contact info -

Hmm. Let's see if it picks up first, it has potential.

I'm in San Diego, single car garage but lots of tools. I take in strangers and fix their cars on occasion, or let them do it themselves if they just need a roof to work under. I'm pretty knowlegeable on the entire C4 as I've worked on most of the systems on mine and others, and work on other makes as well. All I ever ask in return is that the person respects me and makes it worth my time. I've spent all day on people's cars before in exchange for just food and beer if they're not pests.

I'm really really damn good at locating hard to find part numbers and good prices on autoparts. Just ask.

I'm also usually up late, I don't have too many commitments tying me down. I'm always up for a day at the drag strip or cruising the backroads. I'm they type of guy who stops to help stranded strangers on the freeway or will help you hide a body.

But I still have a normal 8-5 M-F, where I do consulting engineering for Mechanical, Heating/Air Conditioning, and building plumbing systems. Not much to offer the average Joe there, but it never hurts to ask. Also I will have my Professional Engineering license in about 2 weeks and am pretty good with the building codes, so some of you Californians may find that useful if you need some design work done to get city approval and building permits.

I also do home improvement. It's been about 10 years since I've paid anyone to do any work for me.

I like the idea. I can't help out much with C4 stuff but if you have any questions about your in-ground swimming pool or you want to know which way the dollar looks to be going against the other major currencies, I can venture an informed opinion. Actually, I have a HVAC related theoretical question for CentralCoaster but I'll post it later in OT...

EDIT:
Oh yeah, how could I forget? I was in IT for a decade or so (PC repair, system configuration and integration, systems admin) but have been out of it for about five years. However, if you're having problems, I'll try to give a hand. At least to the extent I can without being there in front of the damn thing...

Like you guys, I'm willing to help most anyone as long as they don't act like an ass about it. Most of the time if you catch lunch and maybe a 6 pack I'll be there.

I don't have a lot to contribute, but here is my part. I don't know a lot about the C4, I am a noob. I am in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and what I do have is the ability to help if you need it. I may not know the C4, but what I am good at is taking what I know, and applying it to a given situation. I'm a systems guy by trade. My degree is in electronics but that's long since faded. I work in IT. I'm a database administrator. I have built pcs in the past, so I can still mess with them, but I'm not an expert, (I once was).

This is a neat idea!

We live in Torrance, CA. It's near LAX. So we are close to several freeways. If you have something break, I am not immune to bailing folks out... just be warned, we have no space to put people up over night!!! These damned small houses.

I too am in IT. I am a software engineer/project leader... I have done just about everything in IT you can think of... PC repair, network admin... you name it... hell, I was even a certified HP Laser printer specialist at one point.

I am a serious car geek... way too many books... no where near enough time. And way too many tools... as I said, if it breaks...

I can also build just about anything. If it needs assembled, call. Grills, sheds, Ikea furniture... I am a huge (but poor) audiophile and can offer advise on technologies and brands and help with installation.

Over the years, I have done my share of home improvements... minor electrical all the way up to major bathroom remodeling! Plumbing is easy, yo. Same with drywall and painting.

More info in profile

I also enjoy seeing what can be eeked out of an intake, or a set of heads. Putting together new combos is always fun. Have a killer hookup on a first class machinist. Present build saved me $400 on a block, $200 on rods, $200 on pistons, a few hundred on heads if thats any indication.

Anyone that knows me will attest that Im always good for a meal and a place to crash if youre passing through or wanna cheap out on a hotel so you can spend more on hot dogs the next day at the track. No luxury service but the food hasnt killed Central Coaster yet and the heater works..

I can already thank two of those who have posted, Tobijohn & Casethecorvetteman, both first rate blokes who can be trusted when the chips are down.
I’m a retired auto mechanic, 33 years experience all in Chrysler product dealerships, Vettes, scuba diving and my Labrador are now the priorities in my life. The pictures below show some of the tools available, not many missing in a lifetime collection.

Garage Photos 1

Garage Photos 2

I still have access to some “inside” Chrysler information through friends still in the business and can get a discount on Mopar parts.
Always willing to help other Vette owners….I prefer NOT to work on your car for money, did I mention I’m retired?
My schedule is fairly flexible, but I’m a morning guy, no midnight thrashing I paid my dues doing that nonsense before I knew better.
I’m a cranky old guy who will not hesitate to throw out those who abuse my friendship, those who don’t are welcome to the shirt off my back, assuming I’m wearing one, dress code here in South Florida is pretty casual.

This is a great idea!

My name is Eddie and I live in Palm Beach Gardens in S Florida. I am a retired pilot so my schedule is pretty flexible. I have a 3 car garage and a 36 X 26 workshop with most of the tools you could want.

I have been wrenching and fixing things my whole life so I guess I am pretty handy. I would be glad to help out anyone in this area and can even give you a place to stay for a day or two.

Moroso Motorsports Park is a few miles down the road.

Yea, well I'm out here in the middle of nowhere (southwest Kansas). I am a fairly educated person (BS in Industrial Arts (education)and MS in Industrial Education) I am a teacher in a high school, Woodworking and Drafting. I have an outside (of Education) business of building Custom cabinets and custom furniture. I am also pretty good with computers (I build custom PC's and do little networking jobs). I have built houses from the ground up, concrete, framing, electrical, plumbing (yuk), drywall, finish carpentry, the works.

As far as Autos go I used to do (before my college education) auto mechanics, but was away from it for so long that things changed dramatically and I am now trying to learn again. A reasonable selection of tools.

How can I help? I guess if you are caught in a snowstorm or a tornado out here in the middle of nowhere I have a house with a garage and a woodworking shop out back, that you are welcome to come and stay. My advice is always free, remember "you get what you pay for."

Oh at the time of this writing I am about a year and a half away from retirement which will afford me the opportunity to get better at what ever I choose.

Hi all I'm kind of a Jack of All Trades, Master of None. So I don't know what I might be able to help you with, but I'd help any of you if I can. I live in the Maryland / Annapolis / Washington DC area. Like TeeBee1994 I have BS in Industrial Technology Education and a MS in Adult Education & eLearning. I chose not to be a teacher, but after my undergraduate college was hired as a manufacturing engineer because of my background in electrical fabrication and wiring that I gained while working for an aerospace contractor before going to college full time. I worked in the machine shop for a while also designing fixtures and molds. Since my BS was in education, and I grew tired of engineering, I decided to move out of engineering and into Training & Development. I taught Radiation Protection and other related health physics courses at a Nuclear Facility in South Carolina for while before moving back up to Maryland a few years ago. I can build just about anything and fix stuff that is broken. I have been taking stuff apart ever since my mom can remember.

Now, what can I do for you? My career in T&D has evolved over the past 10 to 15 years and I am a developer of online learning courses for the Air Force. I kind of blend my experiences with computers, technology and education to create these online web-based courses. I have a good handle on all aspects of graphics development, photography, video, Flash development and general web development. Photography is my hobby along with the car.

If you need photographs, video, or online graphic media I can probably help you out there. If you need lessons on how to solder professionally or wire up microcircuits I can show you that too.

Just ask - You never know 'til you ask.

Cheers - Great Idea

This is a great topic and a great thread, but it is a royal pain in the ass to read. I'm sure there was no malice intended in the posting of the pix by toptechx6, just a lack of forethought. That is a super looking shop and the photos probably don't it justice, but one thing those 800 pixel shots do, is stretch the format of the whole thread. It would be bad enough if it only affected the post with the pix, but those large pictures make me have to pan every line of every post in the entire thread in order to read them. A line of text no longer fits the width of my screen. All that panning is very tedious and distracting. It takes away all the pleasure of reading and turns following the forum into a chore. Is it possible, toptechx6, to reference those pix to somewhere off site, where a person could click to view them? Or maybe they could be resized to something reasonable that doesn't affect every post. I think the brand X forum had a 450 pixel limit on sig pix, just for this reason. I don't mean to come off as a sour puss, and I don't intend to mess up this great thread idea, I would just like for some of us pixel challenged members to be able to join in and enjoy the subject, too. Thanks, all.

RACE ON!!!

{Edited] To unreformat the formatting that was done to make the post fit the wide format.

Don, I knew there was some other reason I felt a "connection" with you. You are apparently just a little bit younger than I. As the "Industrial Technology Education" tag didn't come along for a couple years after I received my BS. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I put myself through college doing photography as well. Nearly did professional photography instead of teaching. So I could help someone with photography if the need arises.

My name is Mike- I live just north of Seattle in Bothell. I've got a fair number of tools, a large compressor, tranny jack, under hoist lifts, small MIG welder, a 4 post lift and a wife that loves to make people food. If any of you Puget Sound guys need a place to do some work or some help with a big job, let me know!

I am pretty new to tuning, but I have a licensed copy of tunercat with the $EE definitions, so if any of you guys need a flash file with simple mods for a 94 or 95, I can help with that as well- free of charge of course for C4Guru guys.

Tom - My first semester in college I tested out of the Freshman photography requirements because I was going to do photog for a living but I fell in love and there went my career. I quit college for a few years and then went back later when I was 24. Found the industrial tech major and loved it. I have wanted to go back and teach shop but was afraid of the punk kids getting on my nerves. Adults are bad enough!! I haven't been in a classroom for about four years and I relay miss it sometimes.
Cheers

I only have one functional bedroom so unless you're a promiscuous and attractive female, get a hotel room if you break down around here. But if you're in western NC around where I-40 and US 321 intersect and have problems perhaps I can help. Or if you just want to stop by the shop and BS, that's fine too. Bring beer, Michelob is always preferred if you're buying. And not that shitty, tasteless Michelob Ultra stuff. That's for fat girls and metrosexuals.
In the coming months, I'll be working on some deals for some car goodies. Nothing solid yet but I'll see what I can do.

Oh, and if anyone's interested in vintage Erector sets, I have some going back as far the 20s, I really do......

I'm just North of Knoxville, Tennessee. I've got an extra bedroom for someone to crash if need be. A small 2 car garage and a pretty decent collection of tools from my time at the dealership. I can help wrench or fix most things but my garage space is limited. I'm a pretty decent cook and the fridge in the garage allways has a 6 or 12 pack of something. Usually Warsteiner, Natural ice or some other type of German beer.
Wife and I have had all our shots and we dont bite except for our 2 year old son but thats mostly just ankles.

I'm currently active duty Air Force security forces and work all kinds of odd hours. I'm home at weird hours too so no trying to B&E . If you need a guy to clear a room, knock down doors, and advice on how to get that 1k meter head shot I'm you're guy.

I really don't have anything to offer either like some of you with extra bedrooms and the like (don't think that would look good coming from a chick...) but I am a graphic artist at a newspaper here in Arkansas, I design advertising. If perhaps some of you have a graphic question or perhaps need a photo fixed.....

Hi, my name is Ed and I live in south Florida (Ft. Lauderdale) and I am a financial advisor. I'd love to help anyone out with their 401K or portfolio.
Not a market timer (thats speculating) but rather purchase good companies and let them grow.

I run five times a week and drink beer.

Love to wrench, its a great diversion.

I really don't know how I could help anyone here as my forte was in police work. I'm not too competent with the mechanical aspect, so I wouldn't be any good to you if you were stranded, but I would come and get you. I live about an hour south of Tampa, so if you're ever near my neck of the woods and need a ride, just holler. Or, if you have any police-related questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them. I was a policeman in AZ, so I could only give expertise based on that state, but for the most part, all states have close to the same laws. Just remember, I wouldn't be dispensing legal advice; only suggestions.

Cool. Make me rich and I'll buy you all of the beer you want! I don't run though, unless my ass is on fire.

Thank you for having done a difficult job that most of us wouldn't be able to deal with. Cops have my admiration.

Here's what I can offer.

We are just SW of Philadelphia, not far from Interstates 476 and 95. If your coming though the area and suffer a break down or emergency I can help.

If you've been in our garage section and seen my garage you'd know I have a fair amount of tools and the all important lift. If someone had a project that wouldn't tie up my garage too long let's schedule it and get it done.

Can't offer overnight accomodations we have a full house but there are nice accomodations very close by.

Anytime you are in the area and/or passing through and want to take a break I can usually get a few other Vette people together to out to socialize and eat.

Now all this is well and good but what are you going to email me when you are broken down or passing through? Save this number 610-742-7437 unless I'm sleeping or bumping uglies I'll answer!

Theres enough on here now to merit organization by state/area.

I'll go back and edit the original post with locations, names, and contact info from those who provided it.

What what a great idea.

I am red_johnny and I am in Augusta, GA and I have a decent supply of tools and two sheds where I can house large parts or tools if need be. I can turn a wrench and I am decent at trouble shooting but I am no expert. I can always lend a hand at the drop of a dime reguardless of who it is. I also have a mechanic freind who is willing to help for a small fee. If I dont have the right tool he probablly does. I also have a large gerat room which can be used as temporary lodging if the situation requires. I would be happy to host MOD partys. I can also lend a hand in home repairs and arcade games.

I am located about 30 miles NE of Knoxville, TN. Unfortunately, I am not a mechanic. However, I love to learn and might take advantage of some of you guys that are close to me in NC or TN.

I do have a spare bedroom, a lovely wife and a 2 year old son who will gladly keep you entertained.

I have a business that sells Point of Sale computers to mostly restaurants and we do some retail as well. You are welcome to crash here anytime as I have a 2 head kegerator, usually keep a dark beer and Miller Lite on tap. I always have some bourbon and vodka on hand as well.

If you need help with computers, then I can be of help. I love my 88 vette and do have a few things that need to be done to it. Mostly minor.

Glad to be here and appreciate all the knowledge you guys and gals have to share.

Keith

I'm north of Detroit, have good selection of tools and a small garage. Can't offer crash space unless you like the floor. I'm very close to Waterford Hills road course, 2 hours from Milan Dragway, 3 or so from Michigan International Speedway. Know most every parts store, junk yard and Vette shop around the Detroit aera. Jury-rigging specialist!
I work at the parts counter selling Porsche, Audi, and Land Rover stuff.
(Someone has to keep an eye on the Germans) I can get you killer deals on these parts if you drive one of these piles...
