Nice looking coupe. Welcome to the best Corvette site out there and with the best folks that you'll find. Quality starts at the top and with Andy at the helm, it's not only an informative site but a fun one too. I've never felt such camaraderie on any other site.

The way I see it, Montoya is guaranteed a top 20 finish, because he'll probably take out 23 cars before his car is too damaged to maintain minimum speed.

Thanks for the help guys. I also researched it a bit on a c5 fourm and they run the Firestone 295 on the thin spokes. I guess the firestone WO 295 are about the same size as the goodyear 285.

Thanks again for all the help ,

Well then get her a dustbuster too! And maybe a new iron. And you'll need ear protection for yourself.

redwing apparently just wants to tell me how to think and doesn't like being disagreed with. His method and thinking may work for him, but it doesn't suit me.

Arguing that one can afford a house that's 100% financed is akin to pissing into the wind, I know, but I'll do it anyways.

The fact is I had zero money starting out, just like most first-time buyers. I had decent pay and no accessible savings. I had been putting alot into a 401K instead of saving it for a downpayment.

20% down plus closing costs out here equaled about $100,000 for a small 3-bed home at the time I was shopping. It would've taken me probably 5-10 years to save that much. (How long would it take you if you had no existing equity, wise guy?) I was advised to save my cash, take the 100% loan, pay all the closing costs, and use the rest on the house. So yeah, I chose a higher payment and a house to live in.

I can afford the payment and other expenses, and can afford to put extra towards it beyond the interest payment, and I have, and the rent income is a surplus beyond that. I chose the interest-only to give me flexibility for home improvements, not because I couldn't afford a 30-yr fixed. The only caveat to that is the interest only loan going variable in 4 years, but the market is either going to suck and rates will stay low (good for refi) or it'll start rising and rates will go up (good for equity). Aside from the house I am in the black, and I own all my vehicles.

I think the open wheel racers will be able to wreak considerable havoc on the good ol' boys. They now have more protection than a cage. They have fenders.

Done.

Quick question though, do the lighter drivers carry more ballast in their cars? I don't want to pick Tony if he takes 5 extra laps to get up to speed.

Redwing, why the hate all of a sudden?
Its just a discussion after all. Your response makes you appear immature and childish.

Back on topic. I dont have alot to add other than my perspective on 30yr fixed mortgages. I got into our house 5 years ago for 139k at 5.5% fixed on a 30yr VA. I try to pay a bit extra here and there, maybe an extra $500-$1000 a year. I plan to pay it off in 22-24 years. I also have a unique perspective on those last 10 years of my mortgage. A $940 a month house payment (includes taxes and ins) 5 years ago was fairly steep for me. Its not so bad now. In ten years my electric bill is likely to be close to that amount. The last 10 years, more so the last 5 will be a small % of my income. Another benefit to a fixed is inflation. If we have steep inflation and wages at least come close to keeping up then I will be able to pay my house off sooner. I like where I live and want to stay here.

Frank, if you sell your house for $400k you can move down here. We have no state income tax, better roads and little snow.

Interesting to see the direction this thread has taken.

Although the example happens to involve an anecdote about nuclear
power, nuclear power is not central to the point that is made.
"How wide is your vision?" is about how much of the big picture
do we see.

I posted it after searching out supporting material for some comments
here. Turns out the comments were insupportable - something I haven't
been called on yet but which I still need to address.

Til then, the post at the top is my hair shirt.

My neighbor, when I was a kid, had a teacup poodle. Sweetest and cutest little dog. I've had several dogs and am now pet free, but I would give a teacup poodle a try if I were going to get a dog again. I personally like big dogs but they are too messy and they need room to run. A teacup poodle or other small dog does not need alot of room to run. I agree that a dog can be the best friend of everyone in the family. They show you that they appreciate you.

Well, i have to agree that in a Capitalist country that money is evil just as in a socilaist country capitilism is evil.

So where does that leave us?

The idea that one can turn against money in a country built and run on money is beyond my idea of reality.

The Central Coaster asks a question about money and then he says hes not about money?

He buys a home that he clearly can't afford and then askes about what to do with his back up funds?
There is some common sence here in that anyone who carries two mortagages on a home is in over thier head. In other words they had less than 20% to put down.

In a declining market that is going to come back to haunt them.
The US economy is in the crapper, is there anyone out there who doesn't know that?

The one that I noticed the most about the internet is just how stupid most people are.

But the man in all of his dumb posts has back ups.

The second shoe is about to fall. Ps New Jersey has the highest property tax in the nation. Theres no room to make money there, the state takes it all.

All ignorance aside Im a capitalist and Im proud of it.

Ya, all enjoy your ignorance ya here.

Believe me I have looked. Not finding much for the OBDII LT1/4. It was only OBDII for two years so there is not much support. Why are they all so expensive?

I had a problem with my OBDII computer breaking up over 6,000 rpms. I was told by my tuner that it "couldn't keep up". Sure enough, the car was fine after throwing in an OBDI computer. It could be that I have a problem with my OBDII computer. However, I've heard of several more people having that same issue with the 96 computer. Plus with OBDI, you get no stupid codes every 10 minutes and TunerCat is cheap.

Oh yeah...first post on C4guru

EFI Live I believe has logging programs for the OBDII LT cars still. You'll need to email them as they don't really support it anymore. It will however work fine but they won't be offering any new versions. AutoTap is good though.

Any idea what is a safe range in ph for water in a cooling system? My well water is 6.8 which is a little acidic. I use distilled water from Food Lion.

LT and LS Edit are inferior programs. I honestly do not know how he stays in business with HP Tuners and EFI Live Flashscan out now. I'm partial to FlashScan. Those guys have their crap together. Too bad they only deal with LS stuff.

For mail order have you tried Speed Inc? http://www.ls1speed.com/services.cfm

They show it for LS cars and I think he said he'll do LT cars as well. Worth a call or email I figure. They do good work.

Change knock sensors and transfer your LT4 knock module over to the OBDI PCM. Then plug it in and away you go. You can even get a tune installed to the PCM before you plug it up so that you don't have to do it while at a shop where it can be tuned immediately.

As for why do you want to do this? It's cheaper to do the conversion and buy the software needed than it is to buy just the software and cable for the OBDII stuff. OBDII is not superior to OBDI with these cars. If anything it's more of a pain because of the added codes. You'll be fine staying with OBDII though. It used to be that ODBII software for the LT1/4 cars was crap(yes LT EDIT is pure crap) Tuner Cat was only available for the OBDI cars. So to make everyone's life easier, they switched to OBDI. Your choice now on if you want to do the conversion. Look around and investigate some more, especially prices. You may be able to find a deal on the OBDII stuff and save time and money by not converting.

I do not and I didn't find one on the procharger site. What do you need to know? It's not really hard to install the system. It's more of a pain because of how tightly it fits in the engine bay. There's a lot of plumbing to route around inside there. The intercooled version requires you to cut the front nose on the bottom in order to feed air to the intercoolers which mount under the headlights. There is something extra that the 96 cars require an extra part dealing with the MAF. I honestly don't know what the piece does and if it can be done away with when doing custom tuning. Don't worry about the hijack. Let me know if you need any more info.

We are partial to rat terriers. They can usually be bought fairly cheap since they are not recognized as a breed yet. We recently put down our old one but have a 3 year old female that love my 2 year old son. They look a bit like jack russells but are not quite as hyper. They are smart dogs as well, easy to train if you spend a little time with them.

I remember my point now. It was, don't worry about it, if you like the house live in it, don't sell it and do what you want to it.
But obviously, putting a $100,000 kitchen in it and then trying to sell the house 6 months later doesn't make sense.
I've seen people both with cars and houses pour so much money into it and then complain when they lose money.

We have (thanks to my wife) 3 dogs,1 cat,3 birds, 10 tortoises, 2 aquariums and a pot bellied pig. Every animal requires attention and makes their own particular mess. Birds throw seed and stuff out of the cage and make a mess up to about 6 feet away from the cage. They also live a long time. Get a pet with a short life expectancy. The kids get bored with it after the first week and mom and dad have to pick up the slack. Battery operated pets are the best.

Your wife's name wouldn't be Ellie Mae Clampett would it?

Who said LT1Edit? I certainly didnt, and im not about to recomend it either. There is a Tuner Cat for OBD2 cars.

Have you had a bad experience with LT-Edit? Poking around on the Internet, I found a list price of $380 for the TunerCat OBDII package so it's a little cheaper...

Lt1 Edit is tied to one PCM. If it croaks or must be replaced, you have problems.

Well, I typed too soon. Apparently, TunerCat sold the OBDII version to Jet who has it listed on their web site at $500. It's now called the Jet Dynamic Spectrum Tuner:

I haven't met any smart tree huggers yet. I'm starting to think it's more than a coincidence.

Coal is better than it used to be, but still, we need to bring back nuclear. Most of western Europe is powered by nuke plants. Also, coal plants produce more radioactive waste than nuclear plants.

Wish I could make it. I have been wanting to build one of their Cobras for awhile.
