Winter's finally catching up with us here in NC. We got some snow last night but it's been melting all day. But the weekend's going to be cold so I'll get the wood stove roaring in the garage and hopefully get some things done. There's always more to do on the Vette, plus there's no end to other work to be done, including continuing improvements to the shop itself. I'd make a list but don't want to make a major dent in the bandwidth capabilities here! :thumbleft: You know how it goes.

Okay, time to fess up. Who's not doing it regularly and will acknowledge it here and vow to do better? We won't judge, we're just here to offer support. :thumbleft:

I've got the R-D one in my coupe and it's a quality piece of work. But that won't help you. Strick has a '92 vert and has researched this extensively. I'm sure he'll see this and check in at some point. They are available and I've got a link saved somewhere for someone offering them. If need be, I'll hunt it up but no promises that I'll actually find it!

Supercharging is the way I would have went if I could have afforded it. I don't know that I would go with a 2800 stall converter for a daily driver, if yours is to be a daily driver. It will kill gas mileage, if that is a concern at all, and it will feel a little loose. I would go with a 2000 or 2200 stall if you are driving it alot. If it is a weekend only car, by all means do the 2800. I also think the D36 will handle 400rwhp for quite a while, maybe forever, if you don't drag race on ET streets or slicks. I don't know that I'd replace it just yet. Trans is pretty durable as well, try to avoid full throttle 3-4 shifts or manually downshifting. I've hammered my car pretty hard with Nitto drag radials, a 2800 stall, a 150 shot of nitrous and some other stuff and the D36 and the 100K mile trans is still going strong. I don't launch with the nitrous, that might help. I wait till it is hooked up before I hit the switch. Again, tho, read my first sentence in this post.

I've got a 3000 Vigilante converter and you wouldn't know it in normal driving. My LT1 stroker gets over 27 MPG on the highway and 16 in town. Conservatively figured, we're talking about 450/500 HP and TQ at the crank. It's naturally aspirated using the "lowly" Hotcam and with no giggle-gas.

These come to mind in no particular order:
gauge
sensor
wiring
(loose, blocked, or disco) pickup tube
(low) oil level
clogged oil return holes in head(s)
Oil filter in bypass mode
worn pump

Does the pressure fluctuate only while at speed? If not, put a mechanical gauge on it and see what the pressure really is.

I wouldn't blame the kit but the installer. Some do indeed bolt in with one bolt and if that bolt came loose and went into the engine, well you can imagine the rest.
Any updates on the coming software changes that Brut mentioned recently? Overall the site works great for me. But I'm sure a few tweaks would only make it better. A members pic section would be cool when possible. A few more characters allowed in the sigs would be great too, as would be a place in the profile to list mods, for those of us for whom that's a
long list!

I only have one functional bedroom so unless you're a promiscuous and attractive female, get a hotel room if you break down around here. But if you're in western NC around where I-40 and US 321 intersect and have problems perhaps I can help. Or if you just want to stop by the shop and BS, that's fine too. Bring beer, Michelob is always preferred if you're buying. And not that shitty, tasteless Michelob Ultra stuff. That's for fat girls and metrosexuals.
In the coming months, I'll be working on some deals for some car goodies. Nothing solid yet but I'll see what I can do.

Oh, and if anyone's interested in vintage Erector sets, I have some going back as far the 20s, I really do......

Don, I knew there was some other reason I felt a "connection" with you. You are apparently just a little bit younger than I. Nearly did professional photography instead of teaching. So I could help someone with photography if the need arises.

Tom - My first semester in college I tested out of the Freshman photography requirements because I was going to do photog for a living but I fell in love and there went my career. I quit college for a few years and then went back later when I was 24. Found the industrial tech major and loved it. I have wanted to go back and teach shop but was afraid of the punk kids getting on my nerves. Adults are bad enough!! I haven't been in a classroom for about four years and I relay miss it sometimes.

With the exception of a few terms I didn't understand (see above) they sound quite a bit like rules of redneck etiquette too.
Such as:
How do you seat folks at a redneck wedding? Chevy fans on one side, Ford fans on the other.

My name is Mike- I live just north of Seattle in Bothell. I've got a fair number of tools, a large compressor, tranny jack, under hoist lifts, small MIG welder, a 4 post lift and a wife that loves to make people food. If any of you Puget Sound guys need a place to do some work or some help with a big job, let me know!

I am pretty new to tuning, but I have a licensed copy of tunercat with the $EE definitions, so if any of you guys need a flash file with simple mods for a 94 or 95, I can help with that as well- free of charge of course for C4Guru guys.

Hi all I'm kind of a Jack of All Trades, Master of None. So I don't know what I might be able to help you with, but I'd help any of you if I can. I live in the Maryland / Annapolis / Washington DC area. Like TeeBee1994 I have BS in Industrial Technology Education and a MS in Adult Education & eLearning. I chose not to be a teacher, but after my undergraduate college was hired as a manufacturing engineer because of my background in electrical fabrication and wiring that I gained while working for an aerospace contractor before going to college full time. I worked in the machine shop for a while also designing fixtures and molds. Since my BS was in education, and I grew tired of engineering, I decided to move out of engineering and into Training & Development. I taught Radiation Protection and other related health physics courses at a Nuclear Facility in South Carolina for while before moving back up to Maryland a few years ago. I can build just about anything and fix stuff that is broken. I have been taking stuff apart ever since my mom can remember.

Now, what can I do for you? My career in T&D has evolved over the past 10 to 15 years and I am a developer of online learning courses for the Air Force. I kind of blend my experiences with computers, technology and education to create these online web-based courses. I have a good handle on all aspects of graphics development, photography, video, Flash development and general web development. Photography is my hobby along with the car.

If you need photographs, video, or online graphic media I can probably help you out there. If you need lessons on how to solder professionally or wire up microcircuits I can show you that too.

Just ask - You never know 'til you ask.

Cheers - Great Idea

Find a 00 or newer silverado or sierra. 1500 series will be fine for what you are towing. Just get the 6.0 liter.

The existing fuel injection (ecm) will work with any of the available replacement intakes. A tune would of course be needed.

Casey. Please translate the following terms into American English: stubby, paddocks, esky, ute, dunny, and roo. Thanks.

yes, that is something I am thinking of... a photo storage area for members only.

How would this work? Do you mean hosting for photos to which we link in threads? That would be great as my employer now has added photobucket to the list of blocked sites...I can't see anyone's pic links when I visit during the day.

If you mean something like "my corvette photos" like they have on CF, well...I always thought that was kind of useless and cumbersome to negotiate.

I'm in the same boat. The IT people here don't recognize CarDomain.com as a hosting site. I tried it today and can now post pics. I still can't see any pics from people who use Photobucket.

Thanks for the update!

I ended up staying with R12 to keep it simple and because I had easy access to it. At the very least you need to put in a new accumulator and orifice tube. I'm not sure how they purge all the oil from the R12 system.

This is a great topic and a great thread, but it is a royal pain in the ass to read. I'm sure there was no malice intended in the posting of the pix by toptechx6, just a lack of forethought. That is a super looking shop and the photos probably don't it justice, but one thing those 800 pixel shots do, is stretch the format of the whole thread. It would be bad enough if it only affected the post with the pix, but those large pictures make me have to pan every line of every post in the entire thread in order to read them. A line of text no longer fits the width of my screen. All that panning is very tedious and distracting. It takes away all the pleasure of reading and turns following the forum into a chore. Is it possible, toptechx6, to reference those pix to somewhere off site, where a person could click to view them? Or maybe they could be resized to something reasonable that doesn't affect every post. I think the brand X forum had a 450 pixel limit on sig pix, just for this reason. I don't mean to come off as a sour puss, and I don't intend to mess up this great thread idea, I would just like for some of us pixel challenged members to be able to join in and enjoy the subject, too. Thanks, all.

RACE ON!!!

{Edited] To unreformat the formatting that was done to make the post fit the wide format.

Called AFS with my cc # last Friday. The wheels got here today. Not bad. They are beautiful. Unboxed them and found the lugs weren't included as promised. These are the lugs they threw in for free. Since it was an add in, it's understandable it got overlooked. So, I called them up, and they were very friendly, even promised to ship the lugs priority mail to get them here in 2 business days! Since it will be cold and snowy here starting tomorrow, it won't be an issue. I guess it means a few more coats of wax on the wheels.

They really are as advertised, great wheels.
