I have a set, and I still think they are the worst written stuff in existence. Once you find something they work, finding stuff I find convoluted, at best.

I have a set, and have used them extensively when I rebuilt my motor. A few sections get the most work-out but still they were a lifesaver for some parts of the job.
I also have a copy of the parts manual that helps at times, but I still get lazy sometimes and ask you guys for part numbers.

I still think someone that is planning on rebuilding or fixing major systems should own a set for their year car.

I have 'em, and glad I do. I wish they had photos instead of crayon drawings, but you can't have it all, apparently. I also just bought a dealer manual on the ABS/ASR system.

I am with Jsup, great once you find the right pages.

Bogus also nailed it. GM techs that can read (some can) would navigate thru the manuals a lot faster than we can.

i agree the tech writer was a (BOOB)it has no flow to it ,i guess it was written so the service tech could pad the bill chaseing the repair data.

Yes. It was my first Corvette related purchase after I bought my 92. After losing too many bids on ebay I just broke down and ordered them from Helms. My wife had a few words about the price but they have paid for themselves.

I agree they can be a little hard to navigate but there is a lot more year specific info than the Haynes manuals. Most thread responses at DC (also suggested C4guru.com) and here always made references to the FSM and strongly suggested to invest in a set, so I did.

I had so many pages bookmarked that the bookmarks no longer helped...

Had to pare it down to a handful - the optispark page, torque specs, and the pinouts for the ECM.

I first given the 84 set on cd by a friend, then, Last Christmas another friend gave me the printed set so I can take it out to the garage and read it while I'm working on the Vette.
Those and my code reader plus this site has been my most valuable tools while working on my 84.
Between the three there hasn't been a prob that I can't diagnose and fix.

you ain't... the manual is written as a study guide for professional training that the techs get.

It is a valuable resource, you just need the insight on what it is telling you and without patience and a little fore knowledge, you are going to be lost.

I wish I knew exactly how I am able to understand the damned thing, but I do...

I have one for my '85 and it has been a lifesaver more than once,,,,, when I can find what it is I want to read about. They are made the way GM wanted it, the time it takes a tech to find the info he needs is added to the customers bill making them that much more profit.

I have one for my '88 and it has been great when I needed it and could find the info I needed.

I found as much use out of the C4 parts manual I have on CD that someone sent me.

Do you know where the parts manual CD came from? I'd like to get one. Thanks;

Hey Bill, I bought it off ebay for like six bucks. It's a pdf if you want a copy.

One of the first things I bought after getting my 85. I've used it a lot.
